What colour are my eyes(photos inside)?

You know, that’s the color I always called hazel. After reading Johnny LA’s comment though, I thought, wait now… Hazel is just light brown?

So I turned to the most obvious source of confirmation I could think of: Kelly Clarkson, who has the hit “Behind These Hazel Eyes” and her eyes are indeed light brown, without a hint of the yellowish green that I associate with hazel.

At any rate, they’re the same color as my ex-husband’s eyes; he also calls them hazel, yet they tend to look different based on the colors he’s wearing.

No.

When referring to eye color, hazel means greenish-brown. Not a uniform color, but usually green on the edges, shading to brown toward the pupils.

Mahaloth, this is such a cool thread! I feel like you are an old friend now.

Your eyes are amazing! All sorts of things are going on. At first I thought that your left eye was avocado, but with an almost mosaic pattern. Or perhaps like a snakeskin. I would kill for fabric like that – not to mention eyes! I loved the sort of deep taupe suede look of the brown at the center.

Then your right eye has more gray which made the green sort of an Atlantic storm-at-sea green with flecks of lightening with the yellow.

Yet the two eyes seem to be the same color when seen together.

If I had to pick a *color[/i\ – ignoring the pattern – I would say “gray-green,” but I would think stormy seas.

My eyes are a very similar color, and I’ve always said they’re green. They’re little too light for hazel.

This photo was the best I could do. If I could do the kind of mega-closeup Mahaloth did, you’d see I’ve got a similar ‘sunburst’ kind of a pattern to what’s on display in the first photo. I also have one or two spots like that “Jupiter” thing, although mine are clearly brown and that thing might be red.

This is a cool thread.

My right eye.

Whoa, great grey eye.

Well, you have all proven what my wife and I have concluded. I have freaking weird eyes.

Hell I just want to know how you guys managed to take such great eye pics without any red eye…

The OP eye’s match my darling Marcie’s in color; she and I can never agree as to what that color is. I’ve always said her eyes are hazel. Is that the consensus of the group as to the color of the OP’s eyes?

Another vote for “hazel.” That’s what I know as hazel, at least.

My eyes look the same as the OPs, I’m wondering if yours do the same things mine due. While the color you’ve shown is what mine “normally” look like, I’ve had my eyes appear significantly blue as well as significantly green in the past, do yours do that also?

Green, definitely green.

I’m another with eyes like the OP and Martin’s. In pictures, my eyes usually match whatever color is behind me, if taken from relatively far away. They usually seem to be blue.

Lol. I have very similar eyes. (unfortunately not a very good camera.)

And people are often definitive about their color. Eg. “they’re green”, “Oh, they’re grey”, “they are bluish” etc.

I agree - Olive was the colour that came to mind.

Marley23, assuming that they are a match, your eyes are exactly as I have pictured them since I’ve known you. (It’s the brows.)

I’m tempted to set that eye as a screen saver. That would wake me up when I’m nodding into my coffee!

My eyes are brown in the middle and green around the outside. The dividing line moves, based on seemingly random factors, so sometimes I look like I have brown eyes, and sometimes green eyes. This is what I’ve always heard called “hazel”: green and brown, but as two distinct colors.

No, BTW, they don’t turn green when I’m angry. They do seem to change based on what I’m wearing, but that doesn’t make sense to me–I think it’s just an illusion.

Mine can look bluish, grayish, greenish, or any combination thereof depending on what I am wearing. So I said “gray” on my license since it’s inconclusive and that seemed neutral enough.

'Hazel" is used as something of a catchall for variegated greenish/brownish/goldish combos so I would go with that for the OP.

I’d have to say that your eye is mostly white.
