I was browsing the Dope this evening, when I must have had a problem with my mouse. The text for the entire page went to about a size 0.5.
I’m browsing in Google Chrome on a Windows 7 desktop machine. This only happens when I’m on the message board; the main site shows p okay.
I’m going to submit this and check to see if the problem persists when I’m logged off, and when I’m in Firefox.
BRB, and TIA.
ETA: Okay, I’m back, and browsing in Firefox. Everything is behaving normally. In Chrome, the condition persists even when I’m logged out.
I always disable the scroll mouse feature if there’s any chance the keyboard could have a key accidentally pressed. So the computer in the living room (where you just put the keyboard on your lap) has it shut off.
In Firefox, there was a built in way to do it, but I couldn’t find one in Chrome, so I just used an AutoHotkey script to disable it. I keep Ctrl-/+ though.
Thanks for the responses and the lesson on how to operate my computer.
I have an essential tremor that sometimes results in my hand doing things that I didn’t consciously tell it to do. Experimenting suggests that I scrolled the mouse wheel to its limit with Ctrl depressed.
Still wondering why it only affected the message board pages, though.
One thing you can do is install NoSquint. It won’t prevent the Ctrl-Mousewheel from working, but it will restore the zoom to the default setting for the site if you refresh the page.
I have the Dope always set on 155% zoom, while most sites are set on 125%. (My screen is 2 - 3 feet away from me.)
