What did Kerry Collins say?

Kerry Collins, the New York Football Giants quarterback, is alleged to have made racial slurs whle a member of the Carolina Panthers. I have tried to find out whether this actually happened and only found denials by teammates and his claiming to have been joking. Does anyone know the truth about this situation?

Collins admitted to making a racial slur with teammates when on a drunken bender back in 1998. At a press conference in Tampa Monday, he admitted to this, but wouldn’t say what the slur was.

“I used a term that was not meant to be used in a malicious way,” he said. “In my polluted, altered mind, I believed that, in some sort of way, it would bring forth some sense of camaraderie. I certainly didn’t mean for it to be taken the way it was.”
