What did you accomplish in 2004?

I quit smoking .

OK - here goes. Very busy year.

[ul]
[li]Got settled in America - a big move from Europe[/li][li]Past my huge promotion project at work[/li][li]Got a decent pay rise associated with promotion[/li][li]Became god mother to my best friends wonderful little boy (I am cool Aunt ems!)[/li][li]Lost 12 pounds since thanksgiving[/li][li]Gained a lot of respect in my workplace for doing a job that I love in a none traditional girly field and kicking ass at it![/li][li]Met a “friend with benefits” after keeping men out of my life for 6 years[/li][li]Made a lot of fantastic new friends in a new country[/li][li]Realised that I actually like who I have become over the course of 2004[/li][/ul]

Overall a very good 2004. I can’t believe it went by so fast.

…

I taught myself to quilt, both by hand and by machine. Since buying my very first sewing machine in January, I’ve made a purse, two appliqued Noah’s ark baby quilts, one whole-cloth hand-quilted baby blanket with two kittens chasing butterflies, a boatload of little velcro bibs, several heating bags, and thirteen lap blankets. (Wanna guess what folks got for Christmas?) I learned how to do paper piecing, and this week I’m teaching myself to do the challenging but incredibly gorgeous Cathedral Window pattern to make my mother a lap blanket for next year. And I’ve started piecing an absolutely adorable attic window baby quilt for a coworker.

I threw two very successful parties, one a bachelorette/sex toy sales party and one Christmas party for the folks at work.

I made it all year without getting on the naughty list for not turning my radiation badge on time.

I made it through an entire weekend with Dr.J’s uncle without telling him to go fuck himself.

Not a bad year, overall.

I take it you didn’t do much this year?

I moved out of my mother’s house in Tennessee to Nebraska and then Oregon and also made a few friends that I consider truly great people.

Aside from that, nothing. That’s enough though.

Assuming I make it past midnight tonight, I will have survived 2004 alive. It doesn’t get much better than that. Good thing, too, because I really haven’t accomplished much else :o

I directed my first movie and won my first film festival.

Let’s see:
[ul]
[li]I lost about 18 pounds, but I think I’ve gained some of them back. That’s cool, though… I’ve gone down at least 1 size.[/li][li]I expressed interest in working on the same project as Master Sparky did, and got chosen. I’m still in shock, and scared to death.[/li][li]Worked on a couple other fairly big projects at work that went very well. :D[/li][li]Discovered some things about myself that have made me very happy.[/li][/ul]

 1. I joined the SDMB which has given me hours of entertainment during the year.
 2. Started getting migraines in the spring which I suffered with all year until December when I got medications that finally work. Hooray!
 3. I got over my fear of heights.

•I lost 30 lbs too (:
•I lost my job but got a better one
•I saved enough money to go to the UK
•I got an ipod (2 no less!)
•I came out of my shell, particularly at my job and won some much needed respect
•Beyond losing weight my diet is far healthier and I am fit and toned (well fitter and toner)
•I am happier

[ul]
[li]Also lost 30 pounds[/li][li]Moved to a new (better) position at work[/li][li]Bought my first house[/li][li]Started playing ice hockey[/li][li]Hiked up a new 14’er (14,000+ ft tall mountain) and managed to jog the entire round trip up and down Pikes Peak (26+ miles and 7500ft elevation gain!)[/li][/ul]
Yeah, it’s definitely been a good year!

[ul]
[li]Graduated high school[/li][li]Had my first ever political writings published (letters to the editor; better than nothing).[/li][li]Got my first paycheck for something I wrote (essay in the travel section of a major newspaper)[/li][li]Got accepted to the college of my choice.[/li][li]Did far better on my IB exams than I thought I would.[/li][li]Got my first ‘real’ job.[/li][li]Moved into a dorm across the country and managed to keep my head (barely) above water for the first semester of a highly challenging academic program.[/li][li]Branched out into a second martial art.[/li][li]Completely and totally severed ties with an ex, who was the emotional equivilant of a bottle of arsenic: very toxic.[/li][li]Successfully wrote a 50,000 word story in less than 30 days, and still am motivated to keep working on it![/li][/ul]

I got married, quit smoking, and started law school.

And I played a small role in vibrotronica’s festival-winning film.

Had eight articles accepted for publication this year!

I got myself my first “real” girlfriend and relationship.

Nothing else even comes close. It’s been a great 5 months.

I survived a pulmonary embolism in March. As a result, I became a Non-smoker. I also realized
that I actually kick ass at my job.

I got a cochlear implant in October 2003, and it was activated in November 2003. My resolution for 2004 was nothing less than learn how to hear again.

And I have.

Music was the tough part, and it’s still not 100% for me again. But I’m at least at the point where I can enjoy music to the point where I can get back to my fiction writing again.

Gave birth to twins & have been home raising 'em ever since.

Hmm let’s see:
