The first Oscar show I watched was the year Gigi won (something, not sure what, maybe movie?).
Anyway, according to Wikipedia, in 1955, on Sunday nights at 7 p.m., you could watch Pepsi-Cola Playhouse, Jack Benny, Mr. Peepers, and Opera Cameos on PBS (which probably wasn’t even called PBS back then).
I curled up with a cup of cocoa, a snoring dog and Heart Shaped Box, the nifty new novel by Joe Hill (Stephen King’s kid). The main character buys a ghost off the internet. What’s not to love?
