I miss when McDonalds used to offer actual honey for their McNuggets.
McDonald’s cheese danishes, and of course the Arch Deluxe. Those were good hamburger buns.
I would also nominate those melt-in-your-mouth brownies that Burger King had for a while. MMMMMMMM!
ETA: I would also have McDonald’s go back to the old formulation of their shakes, the kind that was kind of grainy. The new texture isn’t the same, especially for the Shamrock Shakes, which I loved.
I remember Hardee’s and couple other fast food outlets in the early '90s having a fried chicken war, offering large pieces and low prices. That was the first time I ever purchased anything from a Hardee’s outlet. My husband used to love their peach milkshakes, made with actual peach pieces, which were only available seasonally. Don’t know if they have those anymore - they used to advertise them on TV and radio when they were available and I haven’t seen/heard an ad in ages.
Arthur Treacher’s is not quite dead yet—ran into one on a 95S rest stop in NJ.
Arby’s onion petals
You’re in luck. Wendys Taco Salad has been back for months.
I’m really torn between gruel and mush.
Come to Canada and get all the honey you want for your nuggets!
Myself, I’d bring back the McDLT but would put the cheese on the hot side so it melted. Stupid not melted cheese.
Off to CS
Ditto on Wendy’s broccoli & cheese potatoes (I think they are available in some regions, just not here). But the one I really, really miss is Wendy’s Chipotle Caesar salad. That salad was responsible for me losing 65 lbs on Atkins and it’s absence is the reason I haven’t been able to go back to that diet. I’ve tried copying that dressing but I just can’t get the same flavor.
“Honey sauce”. Ugh.
Our local McD’s has real honey again, thankfully.
The thing I miss is not an item, but a style- I miss the “V” cut at Subway. Now when they make a sandwich, all of the meat ends up in the fold of he bread, and the toppings are spilling out of the side. The V-cut made for a nice, even sandwich, and is how I make them at home.
The original Burger King Chicken Strips.
These weren’t “chicken tenders”, such as they and MacDonald’s serve now, but seemed to be actual pieces of sliced chicken meat (probably breast) battered and fried. If you pulled one apart you could see the tissue fibers in them, unlike the “flaked and formed” nature of “chicken nuggets”.
And don’t even bring up their loathsome “Chicken Fries”
Apparentkly lots of other people miss BK Chicken Tenders:
When did they stop doing that? I haven’t eaten at Subway in probably ten years but that was one thing I thought they got right. Any idea why they would discontinue the practice?
That’s my contribution as well. Why the hell did they take it off the menu?
McDonald’s chicken biscuit. That chicken and that biscuit are hands down the best things that McDonald’s had ever sold.
McDonalds used to have these little chicken fajita wraps and you could get salsa and sour cream for them. I LOVED those things. I’d get two of them and an order of fries. I don’t think they’ve been around since I was in high school. I never was much of a burger person at McDs, so those were a great option.
Next time you’re up north, check the SuperOnionChips from Superdawg. They’re the teardrop-shaped heart of the onion, battered & fried. The Superveggies are very good, too. That’s a mix of fried veggies like zucchini, mushrooms, broccoli, and (especially good), a corn fritter.
Roy Rogers, circa 1990, had a roast chicken dinner that was (by the standards of fast food joints) phenomenal! It had baked potato and a biscuit, and some other vegetable I’m not remembering. IIRC, they were in the process of acquiring Kenny Rogers Chicken and shutting them all down or something? I forget the details, but it was tasty stuff while it lasted.
I ADORED THOSE. They were SO delicious, hardly anything to them, a few strands of marinated chicken, a bit of lettuce, cheese and possibly tomato. One wasn’t quite enough, two were a bit too much. I’ve never had any chicken fajita wraps so tasty since. I’ve tried making my own, no dice. Miss them so much.
