What discontinued items do you miss?

There was one of the major ketchup brands that had garlic flavored ketchup for a while… that then disappeared from the shelves of the one store I could find it at. Discontinued or not, it’s not conveniently available to me.

Doritos Salsa Verde flavor. Still available in some limited areas, by name at least, but they aren’t the same as when the flavor was first introduced. They aren’t in my area either.

Trader Joe’s frozen avocados. Those were the best for recipes. Not so much straight.

Subway’s Chicken Enchilada sandwich (the one with the Fritos inside). I was just at Subway wishing I could order one.

Wendy’s pitas (especially their chicken Caesar variety)

Jell-O Pudding Pops.

But there’s good news I found a recipe that seems really close. There’s no original to use as a baseline but it’s good enough.

Recipe:

  1. Make pudding like normal.
  2. Add a cup or two, I forget, of Cool Whip.
  3. Freeze.

I even bought the pudding pop mold they sell on Amazon.

Also the Angry Whopper. Damn that was so good. It’ll probably come back so I bide my time.

Taco Bell border lights, Taco Bell fiesta menu, and Pepsi Clear. Also, that incredibly hot bean burrito Taco Bell served around 1992-1994

Bananas on the Rum ice cream from Ben and Jerry’ s.

Regal crown sours!

Sunshine Hydrox cookies

Planter’s Cheese Balls in the can - no other cheese-flavored snack tastes the same

Seven-up candy bars

Ben and Jerry’s Coffee Heath Bar ice cream. They are now using another toffee and call if Coffee Toffee ice cream and it’s nowhere near as good

The original Herbal Essence shampoo

Faberge fragrances - Tigress, Woodhue, Flambeau, Aphrodisia, etc.

Seven Seas Herbs and Spices salad dressing

Winteralls brand pantyhose (tights?). I used to wear them under jeans in the winter to stay warm. But all pantyhose is on the endangered list nowadays.

Cake mascara. I like to use it on my eyebrows rather than eyebrow pencil. You have to order it online and it’s made by some obscure cosmetics brand.

Also in the lip balm line, Labello used to make a basic SPF stick. That’s now gone, and all they sell is an ultra-thick, white stick called “Alpine”. It’s like wearing blinding-white lipstick.

Golden Grain Macaroni and Cheddar.

Trader Joe’s Cocoa Almonds, merguez sausages, escargots, mulling spices, and caviar (off the top of my head).

Freakies cereal.

Ginger Altoids.

Santa Barbara Mission? salsa.

Jello pudding pops.

Trader Joe’s has discontinued so many great things, I’ve lost count. The most recent one I mourn is their marinated giant white beans in a jar. They were great at room temperature, hot, added to soups and sauces…sigh.

Old El Paso original taco seasoning. Not what they switched to a couple years ago (it’s terrible). I still haven’t found a replacement. I’ve been told Sav-A-Lot’s brand taste similar, but we don’t have a Save-A-Lot.

Lemon Ice Gatorade - don’t know if I’d like it now, but I did back then.

Edward’s Chocolate Silk pie. Can’t find another one like it - it had the chocolate crust and is not the same as a chocolate creme pie.

Right here, the Ginger Altoids was what I came by to mention. That and orange flavored Chap-Stick. It was just regular flavored orange, not with any enhancements, just orange. Man, that was the best. :frowning:

Thanks, but I don’t know what Kraft did to the recipe when they bought out Seven Seas. It’s not the same. Their version of French dressing is pretty good, but the green goddess is missing something. However, I haven’t tried it for a while so maybe my taste buds will have forgotten the original by now. I’ll give it another try. Thanks!

Campbell’s has, in recent years, done something to their cream soups, and I can’t use them any more. They give me tummy trouble (the kind where your stomach gurgles for a few hours) and I think they’re loaded with MSG too.

:frowning:

Laura Mercier makes eyebrow powder in various shades:

Ivory soap used to come in a bath size and a hand size. Now it seems to come only in an intermediate size that is really too small for soaping up quickly in a shower.

Rockport used to make a model shoe called Pro-walker that were the best shoe I ever wore. The line was discontinued about ten years ago.

Major appliances (fridges, washers, driers) that lasted. No more. Race to the bottom.

It was once enjoyable to fly. No longer.

I miss Jarts.

The last decade or so, Kraft’s dressings have all turned into nearly inedible garbage. Italian is maybe okay, but the rest, blecch.
