What discontinued items do you miss?

I guess only food comes to mind right now.

Good-n-Fruity had a different formulation in the 80’s, before they discontinued them.
Several years ago I saw boxes of Good-n-Fruity on the shelf at ShopRite and was overjoyed that they were back…then I tasted the candy and found that it tastes nothing like it did before.

Lemon Coolers. Mmmmmmmmm.

Jolly Ranchers had many flavors that are long gone. I used to buy a mixed bag with awesomeness such as lemon, orange, and peach mixed in with the boring standards of cherry, apple, and watermelon.

I had forgotten how Sprite tasted in the 70’s until a few years back when I bought a bottle in Brazil and was shocked by the great taste: the bottlers down there are still using the old formula.

ETA: SqueezeBox Radios. I have 3 of them and they are perfect. Logitech discontinued them, letting this fake imitation called the Grace Mondo (with weird volume knob sticking out on top) take over the tabletop wifi radio market.

OMG, this. We had a '95 Saturn that lasted us just fine until about four years ago (count 'em). It still ran great and everything. We gave it to a young family friend (her first car) and she sold it about six months ago, still running just fine.

Our second Saturn, a VUE, hasn’t been quite as phenomenal, but we’re still using it as our “other” car. But those '95 era Saturns were like owning a BMW for the price of a Kia.

Otherwise, for me, I miss everything that didn’t use to be pumped full of HFCS. I mean, I’ve had nastier stuff in my life, but how the hell did that shit become the ubiquitous replacement for sweet? It’s as if everyone decided to replace all spices of any kind with ketchup. Can you people not taste this stuff? I weep for humanity.

Callard and Bowser licorice toffee

Hmm, I like MSG. Or, at least, I liked the taco seasoning when it had MSG in it, and don’t like it now. Of course, that was hardly the only thing changed.

Is it a completely different formula, do you think, or just HFCS v. regular sugar?

Turner Dairy banana milk.

The grapefruit flavored gator aid. It was called glacier freeze or some other meaningless name. They should have made it pink instead of semen color…maybe it would have sold well enough to keep selling it. Poweraid makes a grapefruit flavor, but it is inferior tasting.

Wishbone Bacon Western salad dressing.

Lucky, Oly and Hamms beers produced by the original brewers from the original recipes.

Blenders, mixers and other kitchen equipment with metal parts instead of the cheap plastic crap.

Speaking of grapefruit, I guess white grapefruit doesn’t count as a discontinued product? I haven’t seen it in stores in years.

Intelligent, polite, and courteous drivers.

Sara Lee Orange Cake, orange-flavored pound cake with orange icing. Came in an aluminum tin, like a small sheet cake. I had a whole one for dinner once, when I was about 23-23.

Bakery-made ladyfingers, Trader Joe’s has them every year in November and December. They are not bad, but not anywhere near as good as those made in a bakery. You can also find ladyfinger baked by Haas sometimes, but they are so dry that one could choke on them.

Clove Lifesavers

Altoids Sour Tangerine. (or other sour flavors)

Did you know that unopened tins can go for about $50 on E-Bay?

Yep, they were that good.

Yes! I miss my Saturn. There are very few cars that offer a third (sometimes fourth) “suicide” door that opens from the front-out. This feature, however, is vital to me as it allows for fast and convenient access and storage for my wheelchair while I drive. Saturn had one such model. :frowning:

Fib Ribs

Ting (drink) - Wikipedia The Jamaican one, maybe not discontinued but impossible to find locally for years now.

http://www.trinigourmet.com/index.php/green-sands/ This stuff bizarrely comes and goes without any fanfare except from people who love it, last time it reappeared was a few years ago. It is like a carbonated mixture of lemonade and beer, that sounds gross but man it was really good ice cold.

Hydra Smooth Cream Lubricant:

This stuff was the cat’s ass! Medium thickness, with a nice silky feel that never got tacky, and seemed to last forever. They discontinued it about 3 or 4 years ago, then re-released it as a thinner, oily lube. Yuck!

Case Logic PSBS60 Prosleeve CD/DVD Binder:

I loved the separate 2-sided sleeves that went with this. Need to add more or rearrange the discs in a binder? Just pop the notebook-like rings, take out the individual sleeves, and do what you will. Even today the sleeves are still available in office supply stores.
The last time I bought binders like these was probably 6 or 7 years ago, and I had such a hard time finding them then that I bought 10 binders for about $11 each. I just learned that though they’ve been discontinued I can buy one at Amazon for $32 with shipping. They ARE great binders, but not worth $32 each!

Fruitcake
Entenmanns used to make a seasonal fruitcake, as did Safeway.

Both gone.

Sun-Bird brand Thai Peanut powder mix. Haven’t seen it in years.

Nobody made a 'Ludes joke yet? Really?

I mean, I’m not old enough to remember them, but it deserves to be mentioned.

Yes stillownedbysetters, 7up candy bars. May we all bow our heads for a moment of silence.
Grape Nuts the way they used to be. Current are spiked plastic balls that bounce off my teeth, not crunchy.
Banana popsicles.
e’s “skateboarder” shoes. The only brand we could count on to fit my younger son’s caveman feet.

Neutrogena Herbal Body Wash. It smelled SO good, but wasn’t overpowering.

I don’t know who discontinued those, but may they burn in hell without their favorite cookie.
