I listen to Dr. Laura occasionally because its like watching a train wreck or slowing down to check out a car accident… you just can’t stop yourself. I also get pissed off at her attitudes towards women (any woman with a complaint about her husband needs to read The Proper Care and Feeding of Husbands :rolleyes: )
However, what she has to say about raising kids - mostly that parents should be parents and not “friends” and that they shouldn’t screw around with multiple partners while their kid is still trying to figure out why mommy/daddy isn’t there everyday anymore is something that very few other people are saying. I think that alone validates her (maybe in a sick way, but gives her advice value nonetheless) role in the media.
Like I said, I think it was said in the spirit of “You totally screwed up, dude, now sit back and take your medicine and be completely honest with your woman so she can learn to trust you again.”
Is it just “screwing around” with multiple partners she’s opposed to, or single parents dating at all? I can understand an objection to the former, but after a period of adjustment, a kid’s gotta accept Mommy or Daddy’s right to a social life.
