For myself, I watched it all the way through. Overall, I was mostly unimpressed. You could occasionally see the money in the CGI and some of the props, but (to me) the writing and plotting were cringeworthy. I’ve read more polished and coherent fan fiction than whatever it is they were doing with the dialog. I can’t blame the actors too much as they were in service to the script. My general impression was also reflected in the huge disparity of the terrible Rotten Tomatoes audience scores vs professional reviewers scores.
One interesting part was that after the bad reviews started rolling in, Amazon went full court press in soliciting friendly puff pieces and media outlet interviews with the creators, shaming people that did like it as racist, sexist misogynists. The baffling part, to me, was all the professional reviewers gushing over what was was objectively a pretty clunky, amateurish production despite the cash being thrown at it. It opened my eyes as to the amount of raw power Amazon wields with the “professional media”.
