What do the SDers think of Noni Juice Cure?

The Fruit Juice is called Tahitian Noni Juice and comes from the fruit
of a
tree which grows wild in most semi tropical areas of the world. Many
native
cultures have records of it’s use for a wide variety of ailments. The
juice
had never been marketed prior to the Morinda company being founded in
1996
solely for the purpose of bringing this remarkable product to the
world. The
fruit is harvested in Tahiti because of it’s pristine environment.
There is a wealth of printed information available on Tahitian Noni
Juice
and also on the Company Morinda, all of which has been written by
independent sources. The best medical info is reported by Dr.Neil
Solomon,MD,PhD, A Johns Hopkins-trained Physician and a recognised
leader in
medical nutrition and nutraceuticals. His credentials are tremendous:
Schwentkner Award winner for excellence in research, professorship at
Johns
Hopkins and University of Maryland Schools of Medicine. Dr Solomon is
also
the former first Secretary of Health and Mental Hygiene for the state
of
Maryland.
Dr Neil Solomon writes in his book The Noni Phenomenon about chronic
pain
and lists a table of sources of chronic pain against which Noni may be
effective “ ( taken from findings of scientific research, informal
surveys,
and testimonial material). The list includes diverticulitis, lupus,
crohn’s
disease and irritable bowel syndrome.”
Dr Steven Hall writes in his book NONI Through Your Body about the
digestive
tract “ I’ve seen Noni heal ulcers . It decreases parasites and
infective
bacteria while leaving friendly intestinal bacteria alone. It speeds
the
regeneration of the lining of the intestines, that one cell thick
membrane
that separates the contents of your bowels from your blood and
lymphatic
system. This is very important , and here’s why. If that membrane is
disrupted for any reason, contents of your bowels that you don’t want
in
your blood stream, such as bacterial waste products, partially digested
foods and products of fermentation, can leak through. Many factors can
disrupt this lining, causing what we call in Medicalese, leaky gut
syndrome.
You may have heard of some of these factors, like candida, parasites
and
food allergies.Other factors such as inflammatory bowel disease and
Crohn’s
disease can both be caused by, and the cause of, leaky gut syndrome.”

Further on over the page he continues with some of the cycles on the
cause and effect of leaky gut syndrome then he writes,”Noni has been
very
helpful in snipping these cycles. By helping heal ulcers and decrease
arthritis, many people are able to stop their leaky gut inducing
medicines.
Noni helps clear yeast and parasites. Though I doubt it is strong
enough to
do this alone in the doses we generally take, Noni does improve the
effectiveness of standard treatments for these conditions. Noni
decreases
colonic inflammation, improves digestion and assimilation, and
increases
cell regeneration - all factors that help break the cycle of food
allergies
and improve leaky gut. If all Noni did was help heal leaky gut
syndrome, it
would be an incredible benefit for millions of people. But as we’ll see
as
we continue to follow Noni through the body, we’ve just barely
started.”
The Juice is bottled in glass to prevent any gas exchange experienced
with
plastic containers. Each bottle is 946mls or 32 fl.oz. The bottles are

$320.Australian delivered. The juice can also be obtained for the
wholesale
price of $253.with a once only registration fee of $52. which includes

Company
Morinda, as well as talks by doctors and scientists.
Many other companies have tried to copy Tahitian Noni Juice but all
their
products have proven to be inferior and many contain harmful additives.
Morinda has the only laboratory devoted to the study of the Noni fruit
and
they also test their juice against all competitors with none coming
close to
the quality of the ingredients or the results that Tahitian Noni Juice
has
achieved.

I’m sure it’s the shit, darlin’. Have at it.

Sounds like vodoo medicine to me. And a scam on top of it. $320 for 4 32 oz. bottles of juice is outrageous!

Just think - homeopathic Noni juice. We could make a fortune!

Oh, Lordy, not Noni juice again…

Some years ago, I worked in an office where everyone, it seemed, was into the stuff but me. It looks like an inky prune juice, and I’ve been told it tastes like ink, too.

If you consider one thing: The “researchers” behind some of the articles you mentioned probably had at least some backing by the company that manufactures the stuff. That, off the bat, indicates that at least some of the research is flawed. That, and its users’ insistence that it’s the greatest stuff on earth since Snapple puts it in the same category as other miracle cures: In the Museum of Questionable Medical Devices, right along side shoe-store fluoroscope machines and copper bracelets for arthritis.

BTW, one of my co-workers took to drinking Noni when she got pregnant, and she miscarried a few weeks later. I’m not saying there’s a direct connection, but you never know. It’s definitely not something I’d use when pregnant, and I don’t care what the research says.

This O.P. isn’t a general question, it’s a goddamned sales pitch. Stop filling this otherwise intelligent board with your shit, and take it somewhere where people are inclined to purchase juice for $.25 an ounce just because it makes some wildly unsubstanciated medical claims. Anything that claims to cure a “wide variety” of anything must be shit. Take your Bee Caps and go pawn them off on someone stupid because WE’RE NOT BUYING ANY.
[/rant]

I work with people who have a disease which is related to an overactive immune system. Those who have tried Noni juice reported a major outbreak in disease activity. As a result, these people were forced to increase doses of various traditional remedies, some of which are very hard on the body. I think it’s dangerous.

jayron 32 is right on the $$$$.
…um, in a totally unrelated matter,
does anyone wanna buy some laeatril?
…how 'bout some shark cartilage?

I’ll trade you that for some of my powdered rhino horn, writefetus.

For that price, does it come with a copper bracelet or magnetic therapy pads?

Oh, for the love of hell. Someone pitched this crap to me, and I wanted to know if anyone else had heard of this goddamned stuff.

Geesh, go take your Prozac.

It was just a request for your opinions, CH.

So you had to print the entire sales pitch? Wouldn’t “Hey dudeskis, what do you think of Noni juice? Great stuff or Crap?” do the job?

It’s not just crap… It’s overpriced crap.

So go ahead and kill me. Some turkey posted the message to me. Of course I think it is nonsense. I asked someone for help in cutting and pasting the message, and if you notice I asked What Do You Think of This?

Of course it is overpriced gunk. On the other side I know rational people who are desperate for relief from pain, what have you and will leap at anything that sounds halfway plausible.

Excuse me for liking to send your replies to the jerk who sent me the sales pitch.

Geesh!

Of course it is dangerous, anyone with two IQ points would know that it is better to go with Tumor Necrosis Factor and other modern treatments.

Sometimes it helps to show In-Print that others think stuff is nonsense. Stupid, yes, but there are those who tend to think if it is written, it must be true.

Mmmmm…Noni ink juice. Chug a lug…Chug a lug. It’s an orgastic experience guzzling Tahitian Noni squid plant excretions. Ahhhh… the juice is dribbling down my cheeks staining them black and coming out of my nose with each heaving, Noni tinged breath in little frothy inky bubbles.
Ahhhhh…more…need more Noni. Noni. Noni. Noni. Noni. Noni. Noni. Noni. Noni. Noni. Noni. Noni. Noni. Noni. Noni. Noni. Noni. Noni. Noni. Noni. Noni. Noni. Noni. Noni. Noni. Noni. Noni. Noni. Noni. Noni. Noni. Noni. Noni. Noni. Noni. Noni. Noni. Noni. Noni. Noni. Noni. Noni. Noni. Noni. Noni. Noni. Noni. Noni. Noni. Noni. Noni. Noni. Noni. Noni. Noni. Noni. Drown me in Noonnnnniiii.

Hey!..What the hell? My gut is still leaking! This crap doesn’t work!!

In the future, Lindsay, you might want to state that up front.

I forwarded the replies to the fellow who wants to sell this crap.

Now he wants everyone’s e-mail address so he can have a discussion with people who are more open minded.

I don’t know what they are supposed to be open minded to.

Why? Quit giving Lindsay the third-degree, she (he?)posted the information she had on hand and asked about it. If you need declarations of belief I suggest you find a church, I’ll stick to open discussion.

Interesting settlement in the Arizona, California, New Jersey, and Texas vs. Morinda, Inc. case for false advertising here:

and here:

The government doesn’t seem to think Noni does much, if anything at all. Unfortunatly most people see a list of ad copy “testimonials” and go out to waste their cash, then again uninformed consumerism drives the American economy.

Thank you for your great replies. I had never heard of the stuff, and have no idea why the guy contacted me. I do have something to do with an organisation for very ill folks, but giving them advice to buy this stuff is something I won’t do.

Ho,ho, that guy was frothing at the mouth when I told him No I won’t give him any addresses.

Then there is this gal who used to be a friend until her fanaticism for this holistic stuff drove me batty. She pays $32.00 a pint for this stuff that she swears helps her digestion. She has no idea what is in the stuff.

Pathetic, she is beyond help. Of course she is always wondering why she doesn’t feel good.
