What do Trump supporters watch.

I have been watching Saturday Night Live, Jimmy Fallon and Seth Myers and they have been pretty critical of the new president. However, a bunch of Americans did vote for him. So, what shows do Trump supporters watch?

NCIS. Cooking shows. Fox news. John Wayne movies on an endless loop. That’s what my dad watches, anyway. Oh, and Walker, Texas Ranger marathons.

Duck Dynasty. Gag.

The Apprentice?

LOGO, they just won’t admit it.

Do two confirmed anecdotes equal data? Because I can confirm these are the things my old man, a wildly enthusiastic Trump man, watches as well. Except substitute cooking shows for Love it or List It.

A couple years ago, I read somewhere that the two shows whose viewers had the strongest red-state/blue-state correlation were Mad Men (blue) and Dancing with the Stars (red).

According to the commercials, Outrages Acts of Science, Space’s Deepest Secrets and How The Universe Works. Nothing but prepper foods and gold coins being sold there. Although they do run that recycling ad at least twice per show. It replaced the love is love one with the x-ray people in annoying frequency. So it’s really a wash.

…lots and LOTS of porn?

They actually did a study about that back in August, and apparently, the top five shows that Trump supporters watched more than the average American were:

1“The Mysteries of Laura,”
2“NCIS,”
3“NCIS: New Orleans,”
4“Limitless”
5“Rosewood.”

And for Clinton supporters, it was

1.“The Mysteries of Laura”
2“Crazy Ex-Girlfriend,”
3“The Good Wife,”
4“Madame Secretary”
5“Telenovela.”

Nascar

Outrageous Acts of Science. Sheesh!

While not specifically about Trump/Clinton or Democrats/Republicans, I found this New York Times collection fascinating. Fifty maps of where shows are popular in the US. Some things surprised or amused me: The Walking Dead is deeply popular in Appalachia and the biggest indicator to how likely you are to watch Deadliest Catch is how far north you live. Also, relatively few people west of the Mississippi care for L&O: SVU

They watch Hillary supports freak the fuck out.

Heh. My husband voted for Trump (I voted “none of the above”). We don’t have regular tv or cable, but he likes Doctor Who, Better Call Saul, classic monster movies and occasionally watches Twilight Zone type shows or “cooking” shows with me (Cutthroat Kitchen and the like). I know he listens to Republican pundit podcasts and the like on his commute, but I couldn’t tell you what they are called.

I’m not a Trump supporter, but I am a conservative. I would be happy to tell you what I watch if you’re interested.

If it helps, I have no idea what “The Mysteries of Laura” is nor why I should watch it. Actually, I don’t watch anything on Captain Amazing’s lists for either party.

The only one I can say for sure, because I don’t ask people what they are watching

The Big Bang Theory
Mike and Molly
Wheel of Fortune
Jeopardy

why are you assuming they are all in lock-step with each other?

I’m a conservative Catholic Never Trump Republican.

So I’m a man without a party at the moment.

Regardless, there are very few shows I’m devoted to- “Jeopardy” and “Game of Thrones” are the only ones I make special effort to watch. Plus football, whenever possible.

After that? I have a special needs son, so I watch whatever happens to be on when I finally have time to sit down and watch TV. I can’t commit to any other show that has ongoing story lines. Whatever I watch has to be resolved in an hour… so there’s more in the way of middlebrow cop shows (Bones, NCIS, etc.) than I’d like.

I’m not sure politics has that great a role. I’d say number one is age. I watch Matlock and Diagnosis Murder reruns for goodness sake. Different generations watch different things. I’d rather stick hot embers up my nose than watch a Kardashian show. I’ll watch nature shows, history shows, sports if it’s someone I care about. I don’t see where politics really gets into my viewing habits except I never watch Fox “News”.
