I’m an environmental policy analyst. Which is a glorified title for running data reports, making presentations, and writing up teleconference minutes. However, if any of you happenned to see the announcement that EPA made today on redeveloping Superfund sites - I help support that initiative.
RETIRED!
Zymurgist
i’m a student working towards a degree in languages (Spanish), and thinking of studying to be a paralegal after i graduate :).Or maybe just continute on to get a masters… Ahh, i have so many dreams…we’ll see which one pans out…
Well, I’m a salesperson for an internet company right now but I’m gone in September. Going to pursue my PhD in Sociology.
So far, my favorite job that I’ve had was framing pictures.
I kill dreams.
Illusions.
I’m a dream-killer.
Mostly my own, but sometimes my services are needed elsewhere.
It doesn’t pay well, but, whatever.
If you’re dreaming, call.
Recently went back to grad school – Master’s/PhD program (it’s kind of running together) in applied math. Specifically, numerical analysis (coming up with numerical algorithms to solve problems encountered in engineering/physics type settings.) Even more specifically, currently researching a new method for solving immersed element problems with discontinuous boundary conditions. For example, heat conduction and thermal expansion in objects composed of different types of material (like, oh, I don’t know, semiconductors)…Strainger, if you ever have the time and inclination, please, please tell me exactly what it is that you do!!! I understand the mathemathics behind what I’m working on, but I’m often a little fuzzy on what precise physical things the various variables represent. And I might be dreaming up the code right now for the software package you end up with two years down the road!
I play French horn semi-professionally with the Huntington Symphony and the Valley Brass Quintet. I also teach (also semi-professionally) for a local high school band.
Carpe hoc!
ESL teacher.
Simple question, but very American. How do I make money? I assure you it’s legal. No, wait…I am a man of leisure. And, if Stoidela and Suzeanne talk, I want to listen.
Construction. To be precise, truss building. I worked my way up to coordinator but resigned and ended up at a competitor plant. I have also done some concrete work, roofing, and built simple framing such as garages from start to finish. I have more time in truss construction than anyone should have so a new line of work is really starting to appeal to me… I just need to find out what that is… but on a good note, if anyone ever asks a truss related question, I can answer!
Huntington, which state?
Well, I’m a high schol senior currently employed by a pet store. Eventually I’ll be a college student…after that, who knows?
Love,
Pippy
And now, for something completely different.
Sorry, DB. That’s Huntington, West Virginia.
I grew up there, that’s why I was asking.
BC - Before child - Corporate Travel Agent and smartass. Lousy pay, interesting clients, No two days were the same. The industy craps and craps on you (read commission caps) No chance for any advancement or benefits or money.

Actually what I do tell people is that I am the Vice President of Carsten Industries where I am directly responsible for, but not limited to: Waste Management, Inventory, Research and Developement and Damage Control. Then I point to my son and say,
" His name is Carsten." Our “company” motto is, " Isn’t it time for a change?"
Herbalist for 24 years; have a small business but have been unable to work at it this year due to a disability.
Have also worked/volunteered with children in many capacities for 30 years. Usually as an instructional aide/team teacher. Haven’t been able to do this since 1996 due to the same disability.
Papabear…Bravo, you do an extremely important and difficult job, that not many people want. I spent 5 years in a 7/8 classroom in the rural mountain community I live in. I was fortunate to be on a grant writing committee that won our county 1 of some 100 grants (nationally) awarded for an at-risk program.

I’ve spent the last seventeen years working in the New York State Department of Correctional Services. Currently I am the Watch Commander at Livingston Correctional Facility. In other words, I run a prison.
I could tell you, but then I’d have to kill you.
And considering the number of people here, that would be a lot o’ killing. And I just don’t have the spare time.
Masochist. Or second year medical student. Same thing.
Dr. J
(yes, the handle is a bit premature–let me have my little ego trip)
Former theater manager, in the business for 10-plus years, currently an orthodontist’s assistant. If you need any bad oral hygene (sp-drunk) stories…let me know! I will say it’s a thousand times better than working in public service, because the “customers” FEAR you (diabolical laughter!!!). In other words…at the theater you had to take whatever crap the customers gave you no matter how wrong they were, whereas with orthodontia, it is SO OBVIOUS that they are not brushing their teeth and at the end of their treatment you have the satisfaction of the braces coming off and their teeth having big holes in them because of decay. Plus, you can “accidently” poke them with sharp instruments. Hahahahahahhaha.
P.S. I will deny most of this tomorrow when I’m sober.
