What do you call your cat?

I had a cat named Pharmacy. Whenever he was bad I would call him Pharmaceutical.

I call my sister’s cat “Wheezer,” because, well, he wheezes. It seems to be an attention-getting device.

Uh-oh, lightningtool. More bad news: My Hankyspank often is called “Spanks.” Or “Pank.”

What color is your Hankyspank?

The strangest part of all is that I have never read the book, Bell, Book and Candle, wherein there is a cat named Piewacket which has magical powers. I seem to recall that is was a much more common appellation in days of old. It would be great if anyone could provide the etymology for it. I recall a girlfriend from long ago mentioning the name and I’ve always wanted to call my cat Piewacket.

So I did.

Well, that’s a rather personal question.
He’s black with white paws and a white splash on his chest.

(crossing fingers)My Hank is named after Bukowski’s biographical character Hank Chinaski (sp). How 'bout yours?

My kitty is named Spot. I wish I knew what her name was before I found her (she’s declawed so someone used to be her companion) and I wish I knew what her real name is. The name that only cats know. I just call her Spot, Spotty, Kitty, Raisinhead, Raisin and Honeybunny. When I’m angry at her, which is rare, I just call her Cat. She’s called Spot because she has white fur with black spots. I know she’s a girl because the veterinarian told me she has a vagina not a penis.

lightningtool, my hankyspank is named after Henry Rollins. I thought the best qualities in Rollins – strong, kind, talkative, intelligent – would be good qualities in a kitty. Well, Hankyspank turned out to be kind and talkative.

Beyond that, he’s kind of a pansy.
And, well, he’s not college material.
But he is my best friend and after 11 years together, I guess I’ll keep him. Hee.

Hankyspank is a peanut-buttery tabby. Neat color.
