I’ve got two stainless steel flasks: the little one my beloved teetotaling girlfriend bought me (4 ounces, little cap you have to make sure not to drop); and the serious flask I got for myself (8 ounces; cap is hinged so it won’t be lost). (I used to have a half-pint flask that also had a screw-on shot-sized cup, but I lent it as a prop for a production of Brigadoon and never got it back.)
So, I like to keep those two flasks filled. You never know. Now, it seems to me that traditionally, flasks are filled with whiskey or brandy, so I’ve used those. But I need a refill, and it occurred to me – why not use the liquor I usually drink, which is rum? (Specifically, Sailor Jerry 90 proof rum.) Perfectly good happy-juice. Why not tequila, if I’ve a mind too?
So – what do y’all keep in your flask? (And you’ll need a flask when you come upon a distressed maiden 'pon the moors. Don’t say I didn’t warn you.)
I generally only carry it at a gaming convention I go to every year. The entire weekend it will be filled with a concoction known as Death Rum. (It’s a long recipe that starts with everclear and bacardi 151, last year the proof was about 107 when you average out everything that goes into it)
The stuff will knock you on your ass and is meant to be sipped. Hence the flask for easy, readily handy sips whenever I desire. (I love you Elisa for getting it for me and really love you Bill for making the stuff)
Haven’t carried one for some time - used to have several, and gave nic hammered pewter flasks to my groomsmen. Probably my fave was Sambuca. Brandy is also nice.
