Hello Dopers!!! I just found a picture of the Batmobile that will be in the upcoming “Batman Begins” movie. What do you think?
I like it. It’s more tank-like than the ones that I’m used to seeing, which I think will play well with the (supposedly) darker feel of the new batman movie.
I think the Batmobile will work in the darker context of this film, although I love the retro-futuristic look of the Animated Series’ Batmobile.
As for Christian Bale, I thought he would be perfect after seeing American Psycho and Equilibrium. He’ll be a great Bruce Wayne as well as an intense, imposing Batman. I couldn’t be more excited about this movie. They’re finally going to get Batman “right”! The cast is already incredible: Bale, Katie Holmes, Morgan Freeman, Liam Neeson, Gary Oldman as Jim Gordon, and Ken Watanabe as the villain, Ra’s Al Ghul.
NO No no! A thousand times NO!
The batmobile is a fast moving, manouverable thing, similar to a bat. It is not a thing which should be made to resemble the APC from Aliens. Yes it needs to be chunkier and more resilient looking to fit in the new film, but it needed more of a car look than a tank.
That’s one ugly piece of hardware. I much prefer the other one used in previous movies but if they want to get away from that, they should have built one similar to the animated Batman’s. It was pretty cool.
I’ve got to agree with rjung: That things looks slow. Even with the rocket engine, I have a hard time imagining that thing successfully passing a garbage truck.
Looks cool, but seriously, how could anyone drive one of these on a public road and not be sighted and followed all the way home? I remember that at one point (late 70s/ early 80s?) when Adams was drawing he had a Batmobile that was externally indistinguishable from a standard car. Wouldn’t that be much more plausible?
I like it, though it seems a bit advanced for Bats at the beginning. Could be they are taking the character further in his development than I had assumed.
Looking forward to this one, but Batman Begins isn’t much of a title IMO. Batman: The Dawn or something similar would pack more of a punch.
If there was one thing the cinematic incarnation of this American icon needed, it was a makeover. This looks like a step in the right direction. As long as the crappy puns, Warhol color scheme, and none too subtle homoerotic undertones are equally absent from the film I’ll be fully satisfied.
The fact that Raz al’Ghul is going to be the bad guy is just so kick ass! He’s always been my favorite villian in the Batman universe. I can’t wait to see how he translates to the big screen.
Raz al’Ghul does sound like a good choice for a villain. I’ll be looking forward to this movie.
Then again, I thought that Two-Face would be an awesome bad guy, but Tommy Lee Jones just ruined it. Ditto for Mr. Freeze and ol’ Schwartzy. Strangely enough, Jim Carrey (whom I usually hate like fingernails on a chalkboard) was awesome as the Riddler. I hope they find a good actor for Raz, and spend more than a few seconds developing his character.
