I was sending some pictures I took over the summer to relatives out west when I found these tidal wave - cloud shots I got during a summer storm. It looks like I’m about to get pummeled by a 1000-ft tall wave…Aren’t these neat shots?

They were taken with my D-70…I had recently purchased it and have since learned a fair bit about setting shots up… sorry if they are not national geographic quality
Heh, amazingly realistic. I’ve seen fronts come in like that but never with the wave lip so pronounced.
Good thing for you and that gorgeous house.
Those are some pretty neat photos. The clouds look reasonably realistic, but the shading in the “under” part of the “lip curl” on the “wave” in the cloud gives away that it’s not a water formation. I don’t see that as necessarily being a bad thing. I do like the contrast between the stark look of the rocks and the lush vegetation that’s cropping up in between them.
I’d say the photo quality is good for an amateur photographer. (My criteria, however, is pretty low. If there’s no fingers in the shot, everyone’s head is completely in the frame, the composition is fairly clear overall, and there’s no weird movement “waves” that are unintentional, it’s a good photo.) Nobody needs to have National Geographic quality photos, but it’s a good thing if you can capture the scene within the frames and with relative clarity, which you did very well.
That gorgeous house is about to be 400+k a year elderly housing condominiums…At least they are not tearing them down… The complex is huge and goes back for several acres…it’s called, appropriately: Seaside.
