There’s an email attachment going round, in .pps. format, containing ‘The five most spectacular photos of 2003’. Many of you will have received it and seen the photos. I’m looking for any information as to whether any of the photos are genuine (not Photoshopped) or faked in some way (Photoshopped or similar). I’m especially interested in the ‘No 1’ photo (surfer and shark shape) but info on the other four is welcome as well.
Sorry for those who haven’t seen this attachment. I can’t post a link, but maybe someone else will come along and helpfully post a way for all to see the photos concerned.
I’ve got this message, and from what I’ve been able to figure out, all the photos are genuine. However, the image of the surfer and the “shark” is actually showing a dolphin; check out snopes.com for confirmation.
If it’s the same one I’ve seen, one of the pics is of a big ship purportedly heading into a hurricane. That one’s photoshopped, though I don’t have a cite to prove it.
IIRC, the photo you’re thinking of is not Photoshopped, but the storm seen in the picture is not a hurricane. Snopes also has that picture. (Perhaps swansont can post the link. ;))
