an amazing pic!!
wow, imagine getting one of those in the chest!
cue arwen summoning the flood quote.
Is this for real? That’s quite an impressive picture! That would freak me out if I was one of those surfers…
Now that’s why they invented spearguns!
niek-niek-niek cric-screeech-screech!!!
[sup]“Kawabonga!!!” in dolphin*
Highly doubtful.
A photoshop expert will be here soon to descredit (or maybe verify) this picture.
Even if it’s a completely genuine unretouched picture, someone will say “it’s the worse Photoshop job I’ve ever seen!” I’m trying to get this phenomenon called ‘Revtim’s Law’, but that doesn’t seem to be catching on.
Photoshop expert checking in…
Looks genuine to me.
what is it about this photo that makes you suspect it might be fake?
The black people surfing?
Kidding! I’m kidding I tell you!
I find it surprizing that dolphins would line up like that to surf.
While I have never seen them to that, I have seen them surf for hours on the bow wave of a boat or ship. They are very playful and they would all bunch together right under the bowsprit while riding the wave. The would look up at you and you could touch them. I have photos of me doing this but not scanned and I can’t find them now. When they get tired they leave together as a group. Often they will make a few last jumps in the distance out of the water, as if to say goodbye.
So, the photo depicts something which would be very in line with what i have seen dolphins do. At the same time I have to say I am becoming very skeptical of pictures and they carry little or no weight with me when it comes to proving anything
Dolphins are highly social animals which frequently travel in pods. So to see a number of them together shouldn’t be uncommon. They tend to ride the wakes (of boats or other larger sea life) and ocean swells.
[conjecture] The fact that they appear to be “lined up” may have a lot to do with the nature of the shape and force of the wave.[/conjecture]
I um, used to be a dolphin and me and my um, dolphin pals would do that kinda thing all the time.
What? Why are you looking at me like that?
You kill me.
For any who doubt that dolphins might do this sort of thing (line up while surfing, that is), take a gander at the photos here. In particular, take a look at page 5 of the “seven dolphins” section…and page 1 of the “eight dolphins” section…and page 2 of “nine dolphins”…and pages 6-9, and 15-16 of “ten & more dolphins”…and you get the idea.
