What do you think of this?

meh

Seconded.

Snoresville.

zzzzzzzzzz

I think spamming the forum is rude and that you won’t last long. Bye-bye, bot.

Teal deer.

And furthermore, it’s really not in good form to entitle a thread “What do you think of this?”.

And that’s what I think of that.

Now, now. I think we should use our command of the English language and our literary skills to provide a better review.
It sucks. It is not the suckiest suck that ever sucked. But, it does suck.

If the future is so harsh, just how did this babbling codger make it to a century?

Which is another thing, for a man who has limited time to impart an important message, he goes off on more pointless detours than Odysseus. ‘I don’t know how much time I have afore this here contraption fails, so I’ll just say that I was headed to Shelbyville to buy an onion to tie to my belt, which was the style at the time-’

In the future of anarchy and no resources, they’ve been able to build a machine capable of sending things back in time?
And instead of trying to warn us or prevent his bleak future from coming to pass, he just gives pointless lectures? Watch the film Prince Of Darkness, “We are having transmission difficulties. This is NOT a dream” said over and over again over a few seconds of video footage of an incredibly important event that must be prevented.

Fresh water is rare in the future? Maybe on Arrakis kiddo. Do you have any idea how much of this planet was settled before the invention of modern plumbing? Do you have any clue how long humans have used distilleries to purify liquids (hint, the number is in the thousands)? Unless aliens steal a large portion of earth’s water, we won’t really be having these problems.

As a result of technological collapse, more species become extinct? Whaling is a very difficult and dangerous task when don’t have fuel and replacement parts for your steel ship and have to have a large gang of folks build you a wooden one. And without all the transport and other structures we have now, getting guns and ammo will be a lot tougher. Sure, you can cast your own- as long as you can get metal. Charcoal is easy to get. But what about sulfur and saltpeter? And without all kinds of smuggling going on, and the fact that the linked piece (of crap) says that people only seem to care about items that have practical value, nobody will be poaching tigers, lions, or other animals that don’t offer a lot of meat at less risk.

The piece is also unbearably and unforgivably preachy. Johnathan Swift tended to be preachy. However, he could also write an interesting story and fill it with subtle details. This piece of crap is just ‘Hi, I’m talking to you from the future. Now let me begin a poorly written, and badly thought out lecture.’

What makes you think it’s spamming? He or she’s just posting a link to article that he or she found interesting. People do that here all the time. Though I agree with panache45 that the thread title could be a little more descriptive.

I think it is a website.
