Fresh water is rare in the future? Maybe on Arrakis kiddo. Do you have any idea how much of this planet was settled before the invention of modern plumbing? Do you have any clue how long humans have used distilleries to purify liquids (hint, the number is in the thousands)? Unless aliens steal a large portion of earth’s water, we won’t really be having these problems.

Whaling is a very difficult and dangerous task when don’t have fuel and replacement parts for your steel ship and have to have a large gang of folks build you a wooden one. And without all the transport and other structures we have now, getting guns and ammo will be a lot tougher. Sure, you can cast your own- as long as you can get metal. Charcoal is easy to get. But what about sulfur and saltpeter? And without all kinds of smuggling going on, and the fact that the linked piece (of crap) says that people only seem to care about items that have practical value, nobody will be poaching tigers, lions, or other animals that don’t offer a lot of meat at less risk.

What makes you think it’s spamming? He or she’s just posting a link to article that he or she found interesting. People do that here all the time. Though I agree with panache45 that the thread title could be a little more descriptive.
