What do your voices sound like?

I just realized that whenever I read a post by ** Southern Style **, I can HEAR it!
His voice is deep and rumbly and faintly threatening- not in a bad way, though.

** Crankyasanoldman ** sounds like Marge Simpson’s sisters, Patty and Selma.

And ** Tatertot **, for some reason, sounds like a Powerpuff girl.

Cecil Adams, since I have been reading him since I was a little kid, sounds a lot like my dad.

Does anyone else hear voices when they read these posts?

I don’t mean the voices in your head that tell you to start fires, though- I mean do you assign voices for other posters?

Sometimes, it all depends on how expressive their posts are.

In real life, my voice sounds much like a young Cary Grant, only more suave and with a charged sexual edge to it.

I hear voices. I’ve been trying to ignore them for years.

Man, Turp! What a cool idea for a thread! I’d never really thought about it until now, but I do assign voices to people.
I always hear Eve and ultress with beautiful, sophisticated voices.
The majority of the guys I hear with great, sexy voices–always clear and with fantastic laughs.
The women sound like Kathleen Turner, with that husky laughter.

A few people sound like some of my family members: purplebear, tatertot, evilbeth, Scotti…jeez, this is hard…I know there’s more…

I have wondered how I sound to you. But am more than a little apprehensive about inquiring.

I’m running out of time today. Maybe I’ll add more later?

I hear aha as a raspy rock-star-type person. As I know the voices of Brunetter, purplebear (and her daughter) and ssskuggiii, I can’t comment. I imagined John Corrado’s as basically how he sounds. I cannot shake the thought that Homer sounds like Homer.

I think of Homer/Tim as kind of Keanu Reeves-like, but smarter-sounding.

Democritus sounds like Bill Maher.

Mullinator sounds like Bob Newhart. No idea why.

I think of Padeye as having an Irish accent.

Chef Troy, whom I used to hear fairly often IRL, sounds exactly like you’d imagine he would

Spider Woman sounds like Sue Ann Nivens in my head (but much nicer, of course). Maybe it’s the name.

For me,remember the voice of Peppermint Patty? Drop it half an octave, and that’s me. It’s peculiar, but it’s distinctive.

Actually, to me ** Aha ** sounds like my Latin teacher from high school for some reason, but, predictably, the song “Take on Me” starts running through my head, playing in the background for all his posts.

** PepperlandGirl ** sounds like the freaky woman from Eraserhead with the huge cheeks who sings “In Heaven, everything is fine…”

A few people just sound like me reading.

But uh-

Do I have a voice to anyone yet?

Hey Catrandom-

I read your post over with a Peppermint Patty voice in my head. I hear it clearly, that’s really weird.

Now i know that’s going to burn permanently in my head and all your posts from now on will sound like that.

In real life i sound like Miss Piggy.

I don’t assign voices in my head unless it has to do with books (usually ones based on movies that I’ve seen… then I hear stuff like Sean Connery for Draco and such) Though the people who I know are guys have deeper voices and the girls more feminine I guess shrugs

Do I sound like anyone to anyone here? Or am I just one of those generic voices that everyone gets in a monologue?

Reminds me of a great T-shirt

I only do what the voices in my head tell me to do.

In my mind I think I sound just like Kathleen Turner. My kids will tell you I sound like the Mom in back to the future.

Now kids come and eat your dinnnnneerrrrr

The voices are very emphatic, and they get louder when I’m around sharp objects.

Oh! Not those voices!

I tend not to assign voices to posters, even for the few posters I’ve met. Not an aural person, I guess.

I do have mental images, some of which have survived the picture pages more or less intact, some of which underwent radical changes. The worst collapse of a mental image I ever had here was when I learned that TVeblen was female. I knew who Thorstein Veblen was and my mental image was taken from a line drawing I had seen of him. (He was a tall, thin man with a beard.) For a long time afterward I pictured Veb as a tall, thin woman with a beard.

I dunno. Maybe she has a deep, masculine voice too.

Keanu Reeves? Uhh… whoah.

Seriously, that’s pretty close.

What do I sound like?

Mjollnir and rackensack sound like courtly Southern colonels, sipping the first julep of the day out on the verandah.

Pricciar sounds like Paul Lynde.

Eutychus55 sounds like Ernie Kovacs as Percy Dovetonsils.

Pldennison sounds like Dylan Thomas reading the poetry of Yeats.

Zenster sounds like Louis Armstrong.

Coldfire sounds like Riff Raff from The Rocky Horror Picture Show.

Tomandebb sounds like Raymond Massey in the role of Abraham Lincoln.

Arnold Winkelried sounds like Daffy Duck.

Um, so whom do I (appear to) sound like? I’m curious.

You sound like the wind whistling in the chimney during a winter storm, when the blaze is blue and the lamp-wick sputters.

Um, so what do I really sound like

matt_mcl tells me that I sound like a phone sex operator. I think his reality is a bit skewed, though.

Scotticher has already denied that she has a Scotish accent, so I imagine I can hear a laugh in every sentence because she seems so full of life. Happy hippy Earth mother.

Satan has a hollowness in his voice that comes from eons of suppressed regret.

techchick68 tries to keep her cowgirl twang in check but it sneaks out when she’s drinking or angry.

Twist_off_ate has a sadness in his voice, the voice of someone who has lived too hard and is old beyond his years.

Falcon sounds like a party.

SILENT_BOB has a big booming voice that his RL friends make fun of.

Coldfire sounds like a BBC announcer from back when they all sounded exactly the same.
