You know, I visited The Alamo while stationed at Lackland AFB in 1970, and from looking at that place I’m wondering if there wasn’t at least one guy there who said, "Fuck this shit! I’m outta here!!! Not to hurt any Texans’ feelings, of course. I know and appreciate it’s a matter of pride with y’all and I respect that.

Alamo is merely a state symbol for me (National, actually, to any true Texan), but I feel no religious type awe towards it. When I first saw it on a school field trip all I could think was “Was an awful last few days those guys had.”
You know why Santa Ana brought 6000 Mexicans to the Alamo? He only had two pick up trucks.

All jokes aside, I totally understand that those few brave patriots were sending a message, and I think it got through. A close comparison would be Flight 93 on 9/11.
I sometimes look for the humorous side of things and I get myself miscued a lot.
But yeah… don’t you have to wonder if one of those guys sobered up the next morning and wondered what he agreed to the day before?
