) promoting her, did she inherit a fortune, or is she really a savant who invented one thing that gives her an income for life?
Although I have no cites or facts to back up my impressions, I do believe that she became “famous” because she put up huge billboards of herself all over Los Angeles. That would imply to me that she had a bunch of extra money lying around, and so could afford to promote herself.
My further impression is that since she never did really star (or even have a major part) in anything, she probably has little actual talent.
That being said, I have seen her from time to time appear in small movies, usually little more than cameos (without any actual dialogue, at least I don’t remember any), in movies that either wanted to spoofe her famous-for-just-being-famous ability or trying for more free publicity than the zero notice they would have gotten anyways.
That’s my story and I’m sticking to it.
To answer your actual questiion, though, I have no idea where she got her money.
I had no idea who Angelynne was, so I googled. These pages indicate that Hugo Maisnik, in the business of billboards himself, serves as her “longtime patron” and “financial backer.” That says sugar daddy to me.
I know Angelyne’s done at least one advertising stint – for a time, she appeared on a series of local billboards advertising La Brea Dodge, a dealership just blocks from my parents’ home.
Personally, while I like a hot-lookin’ gal as much as the next heterosexual guy, Angelyne’s always struck me as too artificial to be appealing. Everything about her screams “calculated for maximum marketing appeal.” :rolleyes:
