According to one of the announcers, yesterday, the nickname is La Manf
(if I’ve spelled it properly).
Anyway, just wondering.
It’s La Monf. Isn’t it just kinda short for Monfils? Like calling BarnOwl “The Barn” or something.
Logical, but when La Manf was mentoned by one of the other commentators, McEnroe summarily dismiissed it, as if the name were a perjorative. That’s the way I interpreted his, “…well I don’t know about that,” and he immediately went to something else.
