It is also a somewhat dated response, from about the 1930’s… and although you have your answer now (via this thread), I wanted to comment also that,
Females are much more uninhibited online (versus real life, men are similar but do not display such a large differential). I know of many past co-workers who had “online only” relationships or made near-rude comments on Facebook, Pinterest and the like, but were quite demure in person (even hearing them around corners as I approached etc, the ones making these comments were quite introverted in real life). It seems to be an “outlet” for the somewhat-still-suppressed female extroversion in our society, it seems.
