What Does It Mean When a Man Wears a Dragon?

The first person I saw do it was recording artist Cisco. Then more recently, I saw another man do it. What does it mean when a man
wears a dragon pendant around his neck? What does it symbolize? What is the person who is doing it implying, if anything? Or does it indeed mean anything at all?

Cisqo is an artist???

Anyway, don’t know for sure. But if it’s a rapper I’d wag that it’s nothing more than a fashion statement

I am thinking that dragons have always been seen as big powerful animals and men, generally like to associate themselves with big powerful animals.

Of course, it could mean, if red, that he is… Welsh!
(No, really. National pride and all. Dragons everywhere here. Whether Mr. Cisqo is Welsh or not, I lay no claim).

The guys I know who wear dragons tend to be geeks. Usually gamers (as in Dungeons & Dragons players and their ilk), but also fans of fantasy fiction and Lord of the Rings and such. Cisqo probably isn’t a geek, though.

It could be he is from my high school. Go Dragons!

The Dragon is an Asian symbol for “male vigor and fertility”. As well, it’s the symbol for The Emperor.

It is also a sign in Chinese astrology ~ much better (IMHO) than the PIG, which I am. This is what it means if you are born under that sign:

"Dragon is the fifth sign in the Chinese astrological cycle. Dragon people are generous, proud and confident - they can seem over-proud sometimes. Somewhat of a perfectionist, they hold high standards for themselves as well as for others. They demand a lot but they also give a lot. Dragons have big mouths. Their words overrun their thoughts, and their hearts run away with their heads. Temperamentally, they are somewhat quick-tempered and impatient.

Those born in the year of the Dragon usually look exotic. They are atttractive without even trying and often loved. They are usually the center of attention. Female dragons tend to have many admirers around. However, romance is never simple for the Dragon. They may experience a series of highs and lows in their love life.

The Dragon is a symbol of luck, virtue, harmony and long life. They usually make a success wherever they go. Dragons are talented workers, no matter as an artist, politician, etc. , they are going to succeed marvellously."

It means…he likes dragons?

My husband (who, yes, is one of those D&D role-playing geeks) saw a magazine once that had pendants featuring wolves, eagles, deer, etc. as “totem animals”…whatever that means–apparently, it’s the animal that represents you. Well, my husband said, “Too bad they don’t have a dragon. I’ve always considered the dragon to be my totem animal.” He loves dragons, and apparently he identifies with them in some way.

Well, I’ve since seen dragon pendants, but he’s not so interested anymore now that he works in a factory…wearing something like that around his neck around all that machinery would be a choking hazard. But, just last night, he was so excited to find that the Science Fiction Book Club is giving out free dragon keychains if you order this month.

He’s picky about his dragons, though. I found a dragon air freshener for the car this summer…but he didn’t like it because it was an Oriental-style dragon (snake-like) rather than a Western style dragon, so it now hangs in my car. It has now been joined by an eyeglass clip with a dragon on it. Dragons are just cool!

So, my guess is that a man wears a dragon around his neck because he likes dragons, and it may be that he identifies with them in some way, and he doesn’t work around heavy machinery.
