Same. I’ve never heard this phrase in a metaphorical context. But I have several family members who know how to lay pipe (and build things, etc), and who regularly help their friends with home improvement or do constructiony side projects. I would assume the literal meaning, having never heard of the euphemism before.
Never heard it as anything but literal but I’d guess sex because I don’t know anyone who’d actually tell me they were running late because they were pooping. That’s more weirdly TMI than insinuating they were having sex.
Am I the only one who assumed it was a drug reference (as in using a bong)?
Count me among those who have never heard the phrase used to refer to any non-plumbing-related venture.
Another who’s only heard it to refer to plumbing. I guess I have too many industrial workers in my family.
