What does “non-hypey”mean?

The original sentence is “that’s such a non-hypey way of communicating; that it’s completely aberrant to the way we are in Hollywood"
Thank a lot!

Hollywood folks are prone to “hype” up things, short for “hyperbole”, which means a great exaggeration to make something sound a lot better than it really is. Non-hypey is an ad hoc expression that the writer made up to mean “honest” as in not hyped.

I would take that to mean that it’s communication not driven by marketing.

Thanks:) That’s pretty much the same as what I had in my mind. I just couldn’t be sure.
