What does the "T" in T-minus stand for?

Hey all! First time user here. What does the “T” in T-minus stand for? Thanks!

I could be wrong, but I always assumed it stood for “time”.

As in a rocket is going to be lauched at 2:45 pm, “T minus 10” would be 2:35, 10 minutes before the anticipated event.

It’s time, alright. I was in a S.P.A.C.E Club and I remember that. I also know that they actually use T-Plus after a mission has started, so T-Plus 10 would be 2:55

I’ve always thought it stood for “time,” but I’m really not sure. Could mean takeoff. In the military, we’ve got different terms, like “D” minus, and “C” minus (or plus, as the case may be), which stand for different things relative to an event, e.g., the beginning of troop/equipment movement to the area, or the initiation of combat ops. But AFAIK, we don’t use “T,” so it may be a NASA/AFSPACE thing.

T does stands for time, just as D stands for day in D-Day, and H stands for hour in H-Hour.

But, Jeff, what does the M in “M-Minute” stand for?

It stands for mm-mm good.
