What Does This Bumper Sticker Mean?

Damn, I just almost started this thread. Snap!

I have a sticker that says (4.7 - personal best).

It’s in yards, though.

If you die while running a marathon, you get a bumper sticker to put on your casket. It has the number 26.2 on it with a red circle around the number and a red line slashed across the circle and number.

Hmm, what does “I’m the sherpa” mean in this context?

On Mt. Everest it’s the Sherpas who haul massive amounts of gear and supplies up and down the mountain for the “climbers”. The Sherpas do the lion’s share of the work while the climbers drag their assess to base camp, and then up onto the mountain’s camps for an assault on the summit - all the camps usually having been set up by the Sherpas.

So, I realize it’s probably just a saying (albeit one I’m not familiar with) - and, just wondering what you meant by this.

I’ve never seen these.
Can’t quite get my head around why you would put it on your car, that goes pretty much for any self-congratulatory display. Why does anyone else need to know or care? As long as you know you’ve done it that is all that matters.

For those that would, what do you get out out of it?

We use “Sherpa” in our family for anyone who hauls stuff around at someone else’s behest. So the kids are sherpas when they’re unloading grocery bags for us from the car, or bringing trash to the curb etc.

I took it to mean that he hauls his wife’s gear for her to help her accomplish her goal.

Yep, what Ivory Tower said.

Swim gear, bike gear, run gear, nutrition. Along with our regular bags, it can be a lot of stuff. And the bike of course that is kept in the hotel rooms. I also do a lot of the driving. The last race we did was in Maryland. On that trip, we drove almost 4000 miles.

Another big part is just keeping my Wife calm and company of course. She likes to be at the race as soon as possible, this is often about 2 hours before it starts.

I used to call myself the pit crew, but sherpa fits better.

Some people (at least me and Sicks Ate, apparently) think braggadocious stickers are awful. Like those stupid stick-figure families, or the ridiculous full-window memorial stickers.

I like this one xkcd: Family Decals

For those who may click on that, it says GOGGLE, not google.

A phishing site? It purports to be a survey site. Three or four questions on your internet use are asked. Then, to “win” a new iPhone or $500 it wants your name and address.

I should have checked before closing it whether it wants the respondent’s email address.

Well, I wouldn’t go QUITE so far. I do think the stick figure families and memorial stickers…even the paper plate sized ones…are ridiculous.

I just don’t get impressed by 13.1 stickers. I’m kind of impressed by 26.2 stickers. It’s fun to see 50k, and definitely impressive to see 100. If I see an Ironman sticker I want to flag down the driver and get them to pull over so I can worship them. Ok maybe not worship them, but that is damn fucking impressive.
It’s just that, most people can work up to completing a half-marathon. Most people cannot work up to an Ironman-distance triathalon. .

I noticed a 26.2 sticker yesterday, for the first time.
