What does this rebus pic mean?

First bar on… Ie first baron… Something? First Baron who? No.

I understand that’s how conventional rebus’s work but this one’s for $500 so it’s not too farfetched to think that there’s a twist on it. Plus it fits the “comedic phrase” portion infinitely more than any other guesses so far.

I looked at the rebus before reading the replies.

The first clue is pointing to a single bar.

The second clue is a switch in the ‘on’ position.

The third clue is an owl.

So I would say ‘bar + on + owl’ = ‘bar[o]n owl’ = ‘barn owl’.

I’m also thinking “barn owl”, but that doesn’t seem very comical.

This is what I thought too. But it is not comical.:frowning:

What’s the other half of the battle?

Knowing is half the battle.

I agree with those who think “who’s on first” is the correct answer. It’s a comedic phrase, and left/right order isn’t always critical in a rebus.

Anyhow, it sure beats my answer involving a right-winger, a short rod, and a switch.

GuanoLad,
You nailed it. It was “Who’s On First”.

The next part of the “Adventure” is:

All who have sent the correct phrase from this picture will be sent an invitation to see this video SATURDAY March 9th 2013, Days before it will be available to the public!!! The location of this showing (Somewhere in or near Gainesville fl.) will be made known to all who have identified the phrase in this picture, in addition the first to arrive will receive instructions to the location of a $20 gift card also hidden Somewhere in or near Gainesville fl.

Guano,
I am not sure how many people will be on the ground for our team this weekend, but I will offer you your fair percentage of the bounty. Currently, I would guess that there will be 3 of us, plus you. 25% would be your share.

In the beginning, the bounty was “half” (of $500) and now it’s down to 25%.

At the time, his share was 50%. Since more details have emerged about the rest of the adventure, it has become clear that having more than one person on the ground “brute searching” is going to be necessary. 25% of $500 is considerably more than 50% of nothing.

What would your percentage of $500 be if he hadn’t gotten the answer? You say “at the time, his share was 50%” but the time you’re referring to you didn’t have the answer yet. If you want to cut 2 others in on your share, that’s your prerogative but no excuse to change the deal. Without the correct answer you wouldn’t be going on this easter egg hunt.

Seriously, it’s bad enough to crowd source for help on this, which is basically cheating and akin to people coming on here to ask for help with homework, but then to change the terms after the fact is pretty shitty.

Partially true, assuming that I didn’t figure out the right answer between now and Friday. The correct answer only affords a head-start on what will be a video of a person hiding the chest containing the money. Its usually in nature somewhere that the exact position is barely recognizable. So, the two days will be a nice head-start IF I recognize the location before he starts giving out clues to the location.

25% seems fair for his part of the event. He is more than welcome to argue for the full 50% if he so chooses.

There’s no guarantee that you’ll be the one to find it, but if you do, it would be pretty weaselly if not downright renegerry for you to try to reduce the percentage after the fact. It’s right there in your own OP.

You make a fine argument; I will leave it up to GuanoLad. Guanolad, do you want me to avoid adding any team members and go after this thing alone and honor our 50% agreement or engage additional resources to give us a better shot of winning and reduce your share to 25%?

Dude, you need to be careful how you phrase things. You’ve got an if–>then statement. He met the “if” part; you’ve promised the “then” part. Half of $500 is $250, which you’ve promised to him.

He might relent and let you off the hook, letting you agree to pay him the $250 only if you get the $500 prize, but that’s not what you said originally.

I wasn’t writing code or a legally binding agreement. I was offering a share of the prize based on the knowledge that I had at the time. The previous picture challenges have consisted of “Identify the picture” first and get the location of the actual prize. This one is a bit more complicated due to the fact that everyone who identifies the picture gets the clue to the location of it 2 days ahead of him posting the location clue on his facebook page to the general public. I am still more than willing to honor my commitment of sharing the loot but there are going to be more players now. I have also offered to abide by my the “THEN” of the original post under the terms that I don’t recruit a couple of people to help comb what will probably be an uninhabited expanse of Florida that covers miles. The downside to that is that the odds of winning are dramatically decreased.

Again, why don’t we wait for Guanolad to chime in before you guys call in Judge Wapner.

In your OP, you not only specify that you’ll give the person that solves it half - but also that you’d have offered them the entire $500 but you thought it was only half of the challenge.

So you basically said that: “Solving pict-o-gram Puzzle = $250. Solving 2nd half of challenge = $250”.

Seems to me that if you’re going to recruit helpers for the final leg, that you and they should split the $250 that’s left after paying out GuanoLad for solving the puzzle and meeting the requirements you laid out in your OP.

This is disingenuous, GuanoLad earned his 50% share by providing you with the opportunity to continue on this quest. Any additional confederates you enlist should be compensated from your share.
