What don’t you lick about Tipper Gore?
The back of her throat on a national stage.
He gets it, at least when he is here.
Cops everywhere.
I guess I’m echoing most people here when I say that it feels like there is nothing the man can say without it sounding like it’s been scripted, edited, test-marketed and rehearsed. Even when he says things I agree with, I don’t feel any sincerity behind it. When I see a news headline now that starts ‘Al Gore says…’ wrt some national or international crisis, I can’t help hearing a little voice shouting “Hey, everyone, it’s me! Don’t forget about meeeeee…”
When he spoke at my college graduation back in '94, one of his topics was ‘the dangers of cynicism’. I feel like such a complete tool now for ever being inspired by it.
njufoic: Dukakis lost because I wasn’t old enough to vote for him.
Granted, photos like these probably didn’t help matters.
k2dave, would you PLEASE not refer to someone who is “pro-choice” as “ANTI-LIFE?”
Excuse me???
From the Secret Service Web Site:
It’s possible that with the “war on terrorism” that Bush authorized a detail for former VP’s who wanted it.
Maybe Gore thinks it makes him seem more important or he thinks he’s still VP.
Let’s not forget his “Let’s censor the music” wife and her precious Parents Music Resource Council.
Guin, lighten up and take it to another thread. This is, after all, about why people DON’T like Al Gore… you should expect such comments, after all.
Exactly why he made such a good VP under Clinton.

[sup]Talk about hitting the nail on the head![/sup][/ul]
I dislike him because he’s out of the news. No,I don’t like his policies or him personally, but more because I have a very accurate impersonation of his voice and used to have some great joke material. Oh well…I’m working on Bill O’Reilly now.
(And yes, I realize they don’t sound anything alike. I just have a very versatile voice.)
The weird thing is that Al Gore was never considered “stiff” in all those years of public service to the State of Tennessee. I never heard that word used to describe him EVER.
Then he became V.P. and it got to be a running gag. He seemed to become more and more self-conscious and awkward every time I saw him.
I don’t recall Tipper ever trying to actually censor music. She did campaign hard for rating and labelling of albums as a parental tool. But it’s been a long time and I may not be remembering correctly.
Why should she expect such comments? If anything, k2dave should be providing a cite that proves he’s “anti-life.”
Wife: good point.
Anti-life: bad point. Guin is correct. Be nice

What I don’t like about Al Gore is what I don’t like about so many mainstream, corporate-puppet Democrats. They give lots of lip service to progressive issues, but then end up doing pretty much the same things that Republicans do.
Which is why I voted for as many Green Party candidates as I could in 2000, and will be doing so again this coming Tuesday.
Somewhere upthread, Zoe (I think?) mentioned wanting an honest, not-for-sale President. That is also what I want, and that is why I voted for Ralph Nader.
So, Jerrybear, we owe Bush to you.
I wonder how often in those quiet moments Gore, in a rare fit of honesty, doesn’t look at those still rabidly championing his muddled message and think “Shit, they’ll forgive anything!”
Vote for him you may, but you’ve got to be damn displeased with the route he’s taken and the pliable spine he’s displayed.
He’s a liar. His decisions float with the popular breeze. He want’s to be your executive voice. Pllllease!
If a cnadidate is not for sale, he or she cannot get elected, you know.
