The Late Mr. Shakespeare, by Robert Nye. We’ll talk about it over drinks.
If you keep throwing that Shakespeare around, you’ll gain:
A mother, and a mistress, and a friend,
A phoenix, captain, and an enemy,
A guide, a goddess, and a sovereign,
A counsellor, a traitress, and a dear.
All’s Well that Ends Well, Act I, Scene 1, 173-6.
First a drink for my favorite moderator named after a cold tasty beverage. Uncle Beer----Here ya go.
Next a couple for everyone who has made me laugh or cry or want to grow up and be just like them.
And here’s a beer I spit in for the one who was was definately NOT NICE when it was uncalled for.
And for all the rest who I’ve never heard of and have never heard of me (a cast of thousands I’m sure) come on over here and let us get better aquainted. Hi I lost my phone number, can I have yours???
OK, Euty gets a drink for that!
Also Chief Scott and Vestal Blue. ( And VB, those gallon bottles of oil you keep dropping on my house are ruining the roses!)
And JTR for his post in the “Is it ever bad to be pretty?” thread (OK, I WILL learn to link, someday)
And drinks for the happy couple, Anthracite and evilbeth, because I’m not a sore loser.
And I’ll buy one for any gentleman willing to welcome me back to the heterosexual side of life!
Euty, Lynn, Tuba, Manny, UncaBeer, all of 'em: intelligent, funny-pissant heroes-in-the-trenches.
elelle, ChrisCTP, Shayna and Serendipty: for warm friendship beyond my deserts: ladies, you rock!
Coldfire: across oceans, the unlikely, undreamed pal who’s more real to me than folks at my shoulder.
Scylla, Zen, Mully, BornD, Demo, Anth and so many others: I left out so many names and voices; the SD crosswise, outspoken, opinionated folks who piss me off, amuse me and keep me thinking.
Oh, bullpucky, I’m an “easy round”; I can drink Marines under the table but would would rather treat all these dear, infuriating clamorous voices in a toast rather than let dreary money moulder in my purse.
“Doth it not show vilely in me to desire small beer?”
–Henry IV, Part 1, Act 2, Scene iv
**
And if you keep throwing those drinks around, you’ll find:
“I have very poor and unhappy
brains for drinking:
I could well wish courtesy
would invent some other custom
of entertainment.”
–Othello, Act 2, Scene iii
Re the OP, how could I forget Anti-Pro, who has been consistently kind to me! Pardon me, Anti-Pro!
All of the moderators here, because I’m a suck up and I also truly enjoy their posts. An extra one for John Corrado to congratulate him.
One for Canadian Sue, because she’s such a great person to talk to, and I think I still owe her one.
One for Ultress. Not only is she a lot of fun, but I could listen to her accent all night.
Havoc and Smug, because I like them.
Tatertot because she’s always great to talk to online (whenever I catch her, anyway).
Esprix, because apparently he rocks. Better get one for matt_mcl too, since they’ll be sitting together.
Smeghead, because I like his Rimmer sig.
Feynn, because he’s easy when he’s drunk.
And probably a bunch more that I can’t think of this early in the morning. Maybe I’ll just buy a few pitchers and invite y’all to sit with me as I regale you with stories of my sexual prowess.
That’s awful sweet of you. I thought Chateau St. Jean was more famous for its whites. Must say it’s been a while since my last visit to the winery. Hacienda, I’ve heard, makes a fine Pinot. If you like Madeira, we could have a few glasses of Sattui (definitely up there with some very good Ports from Portugal), although a whole bottle in one sitting would probably be a bit much…
Canadian Sue ( you must be getting tired of having coffee with me), Ultress (I think I owe you one), Havoc and Smug (just cuz), Odieman (I know what you do for a living), tatertot (being a mom is hard work), Spoofe (you crack me up), Satan and Drain ( because I musn’t leave out the dark lord and his consort), and I know there are so many more…
