Sometimes somebody posts a really funny one-liner in a thread, but it’s so good that there’s no way to follow it up, so nobody quotes it and the conversation moves on to other things. It seems like a waste of bandwidth to quote it and say something trite like “ROTF and spitting up on my keyboard”–in fact, I hate when people do that. So the remark hangs in the ether and sometimes I think the poster thinks that, because nobody responded, nobody thought it was funny, when in fact just the opposite was the case.
So my Thanksgiving is for all the Dopers who post really funny one-offs that never get acknowledged!
