Other than this thread, where have you gotten the names and years for your list above?

I’m concerned with the Older Than 1960 group and have attempted to verify them as I go, but the names on your list don’t appear to be all from this thread.

Are there other threads beside the Poll that Giles put up just recently and my “Old Folks” thread where Dopers and either birth years or ages are collected?

I suspect the verification task will depend on other places where Dopers have volunteered that info.

Some have come from other threads like “who has been married the longest” or when someone posts their birthdate for some reason. Mostly the data is from this thread, and that’s actually what I meant - if Asimovian or someone else would like to take my spreadsheet and back-check it with this thread just to make sure I didn’t miss anyone (such as RTfirefly above).

That’s good to know about your other sources. Since my efforts have been on just a subset of your data, I would think Asimovian as OP of this thread should be the one to authenticate it. Especially since Asimovian would like to have it made a sticky.

By the way, have you checked profiles for birthdays and/or years of birth? I haven’t done that myself, and wasn’t planning to, mostly because of the number of members who are inactive. However, if they’ve included those details in their profiles, it ought to be considered a “public knowledge” kind of thing and as good as if they had posted that info to a thread.
