What else do you pay for on the web?

I think we’ve all gotten over the fact that we now have to pay for this site, but I’m wondering what else you find online that is worth paying for?

I paid $20 for a subscription to www.zagat.com, a restaurant review site. I travel a lot, and like to eat good food. I don’t think I’ll renew it, though. The reviews aren’t that good.

I also paid $26 for www.consumerreports.org, which is (obviously) the Consumer Reports website. This one is definitely worth it. I am not one of those who is slavishly devoted to their reviews (I put way more value on style than they do), but I use it to screen out the bad stuff.

I subscribed to the Wall Street Journal online for a while, but dropped it.

I pay for nothing else on the web.

I’m getting the feeling that not many do.

Books, DVDs, computer peripherals from amazon.

I registered at a Masuimi Max (glamour model type person) site once. to, erm, look at the pictures.

laptop. (alienware)

donations via paypal to the creator of spybot.

one time payment to a different message board.

computer parts from e-bay.

I meant paying for content, as opposed to products that get shipped you.

Sorry, so I guess my registration to the soft-core porn site is the one that counts.

I donate $5 monthly to Gaiaonline.com, which I don’t really know how to describe. I guess it counts as a forum. I also spend alarming (for me) amounts of money to customize my homepage.

$4.95 a month to http://www.fotolog.net

I used to subscribe to RealOne’s Rhapsody (streaming music) service before I decided to invest the ten bucks per month toward new songs on iTunes after I got my iPod.

At least one or two dopers are subscribers on my own messageboard - although I haven’t seen one in ages and the other is a serial lurker.

I don’t pay for anything else online. Just here.

I used to pony up $5 for a paid lj account but I got cheap.

If bills and purchases don’t count, I only pay for the SDMB and a Giganews account for newsgroups.

I pay for Livejournal with extra userpics.

LJ and user pics. There was once was a time I thought 15 was enough, and now I’m pissed because we’re limited to 50. grumble

I subscribe to emusic.com.

I suppose it straddles the line, as I don’t receive a physical product, just downloaded .mp3s.

I’ve gifted LJ subscriptions before.

I used to subscribe to Runescape ($5/month), a game kinda like Everquest, but not all that great.

I have purchased a number of ebooks for www.baen.com - it is nice find a place that doesn’t put crappy DRM on their books.

Just this place now, although for a year or two I was a paid up member to a couple of online chess sites.

I pay for membership at [url = http://www.graphicsmash.com]Graphicsmash, an online comic website.

I pay for my personal email address. It’s only $30 a year and it’s a pretty good service, I wanted to keep my email address, and best of all - no spam.
