Just curious about what else happened on that infamous day and the ensuing two weeks while the news was taken up with the attacks. I know Freddie Decordova, the producer of the Tonight Show, died a few days after.

Well, I remember that Justin Wilson, the “Cookin’ Cajun”, died about a week before 9/11, and I thought it was good that he didn’t have to see the terrorist attacks. Always liked that old feller.

I remember that 9/11 pretty much blew Gary Condit out of the news. It was several years before new evidence arose and it got back in the news.

That is seriously creepy, that the artwork was done months before 9/11.
Most major label albums are released on Tuesdays, so I guess all the music mentions here makes sense.
Anyway, I also seem to remember that Michael Jackson had a big anniversary gala in New York the night before.

Norway got a brand-new government.
See, we had a parliamentary election on September 10th, which was the closest in recent years if not ever. So a lot of us stayed up late that night waiting to see if the results would start to show a clear trend. I went to bed figuring it wasn’t worth waiting for the very last results, the news would be about the election and nothing but the election for the next week or so anyway.
Um, yeah. Instead, the work of forming a new government was suspended for a few days because nobody was thinking too clearly. I don’t remember which say it finally happened, but the old minority Labor government was out and a Christian Democrat/Liberal/Conservative coalition government was in.
