Has anyone seen any information re: what else might have been attacked by the US forces? Strikes me as a little overkill for all those missles and bombs, (over 40 missles according to BBC), for just one target. I’ve been keeping my eye on bbc, cbc, google news, and the world news network news.bbc.co.uk, www.cbc.ca, news.google.com, www.worldfactbook.com respectfully) but I’ve not seen any information regarding this. Has anyone else seen/heard anything?
On a side note the CBC web site flashed an unconfirmed report of fighting on the kuwait/iraq DMZ but they pulled it rather quickly. It had been attributed to a reporter on site with ground troops there.
I don’t have an online link right now, but on CNN they said that the target was a complex of buildings. I have no idea how many, but that may explain why so many missiles were used.
In addition, since the CIA thought that high level Iraqi officials (possibly including Saddam) were there we wouldn’t want to scrimp on what may be a one-time opportunity.
One other consideration is that Saddam is known to have many underground facilities. If this was the case at this complex a lot of ordinance would be needed to breach them.
