I know that Mark Lanegan sings with Queens of the stone age and has solo albums out, but what are Barrett Martin and the Conner brothers up to?
anything musical, or just claiming benefit?
The last grove of Screaming Trees was knocked down by the Smashing Pumpkins. The shattered trunks were picked up by members of the Texas A&M Yell Crew, who carved them into fishing poles in an effort to catch the Shrieking Eels.
In other words, I don’t know, and I’m being juvenile.
The brothers can still be caught mooching around the Seattle scene, playing little places like The Overpass billed under a different name each time. I know that one of them had a drug problem and did a stint in rehab that sidelined an album.
I think Jack Handey said it best…
“If trees could scream, would we be so cavalier about cutting them down? Probably, if they did it all the time, for no apparent reason”
so maybe someone got tired of all the screaming. They were from Seattle right? Lots of logging going on in the state of washington as I recall.
I know that Barret Martin has appeared on the Mad Season record “Above” with members of AIC and Pearl Jam.
He was the drummer and percusionist on the excellent Tuatara records, which also featured SKerik (insane multi-instrumentalist, also played with Les Claypool), and Mike Mills of REM.
I heard a rumor he was currently working with the Blue Man Group, but cannot substantiate them.
Mark Pickerel was in Truly for a while. I don’t know what happened to Truly though. Definitely an underrated group.
