Very, very nice guy. But then, that’s no surprise.
Since I seem to have missed the whole asexual/gay thing I decided to email him. (Then Guin posted the direct link, which I read. It looks like all that was stuff he went through and got through, not anything he’s burdened with today)
His response was thoughtful, and came across as very cool, very secure.
A couple of pertinent quotes:
I say again: whatever else, he comes across as healthier, happier, and more together than 8 out of 10 people I meet anywhere.
So based on the fact that Peter Pan was able to email at least two coherent paragraphs, not only are Dr. Stoid and Professor Guinastasia prepared to pronounce him sane and adjusted, but better adjusted than 8-10 people they’ve met. Furthermore this is even more remarkable in that they haven’t even met the guy, but I guess from those two paragraphs they now completely understand him.
This from Guin who was just finishing berating me for daring to have a dissenting opinion based on the flimsy evidence of having actually read every one of his pages and his full bio.
I guess it’s ok to have a flimsy opinion if it’s the right flimsy opinion.
I didn’t say he was sane-I simply said I don’t see how we can decide whether or not he’s a raging loon just from viewing the guy’s WEBPAGE for crissakes.
He SEEMS harmless. That’s all.
You, on the other hand, give a complete psychological review based on reading the guy’s fucking website.
In case anyone thinks it’s “nutty” to express “God’s love” by cultivating an epicene, childlike persona, here are a couple quotes from the New Testament to support the position that Mr. Constan is “on message.”
Peter Pan boy sez: “It is through the cracks in our humanity that the light within often shines brightest.”
You might as well say “Through the crackpots in our society…” It’s a good observation, either way.
I don’t know anything about this guy beyond what’s on his webpage, but of all the possible diagnosis made here, all of them could easily apply to someone dressed in standard business garb.
From what I’ve seen, he contends, or possibly contends with: [ul]
[li]Gender confusion[/li][li]Disdain for reality[/li][li]Depression[/li][li]A loss of spouse through divorce[/li][li]A loss of a key family member due to suicide[/li][li]A possible rejection of responsibility[/li][li]A desire to not face death[/li][li]A strong feeling of kinship with an archetype[/li][li]An unrepaired rift with his father[/li][li]Some contradiction or confusion in the ideas that he holds, most specifically towards religion[/li][li]A degree of proseltyzing based on a religious epiphany, which to those not experiencing that epiphany, looks less than genuine or valid[/li][/ul]
So from what I can see, the only difference between this guy and a great many people from all walks of life is the clothing that he chooses to wear, and the way he chooses to contend with his issues. Of the potential issues listed above, I’ve experienced a great many of them to some degree in my own life, as have no doubt many others here.
From what little I know of him, he doesn’t represent actual harm to anyone, so how could he be classed as “nuttier than a fruitcake”? Sure, to my way of thinking, he has an odd appearance, but so do people who pierce their eyebrows, or people who (insert subculture mode of dress here). But that’s my own constraints I see. Normality is incredibly loose in definition. He dresses in a way I wouldn’t have the balls to if I wanted to, but I’m in no position to state that I’m somehow more sane than he is. I’ve yet to meet the person who doesn’t carry around some bizzarre stuff in their head.
