I’ve got a handheld squeezer that I like. It’s similar to this one:
It’s sold as a “Citrus Squeezer” but I’m going to start experimenting with it.
I’m afraid I’ll quickly learn that its design incorporates the rind of the citrus to act as a barrier to avoid backsplash- so, I’d better wear a purple shirt before I try to squeeze blueberries through it.
What’s every fruit/berry that you think would squeeze effectively through this thing? “Effectively” here meaning that, with just this hand squeezer, I could get a maximum amount of juice out of the fruit and into my glass?
If my fears of backsplash prove to be unfounded, I figure most berries could drain very nearly completely (not sure about strawberries).
Probably not an effective way to get as much juice as possible from an apple.
Peaches, I think would work out well.
Thoughts?
I have one. It won’t work the way you think it will with berries or any other fruit you have in mind. It’s a citrus juicer for a reason.
Peaches will not work well. You’ll end up with a pile of peach mush. If you want to juice fruit other than citrus, you’ll need a juicer.
Ha!
Well, there’s a reason why I come here with such queries!
Thanks for setting me straight!
I don’t know, but I love the thread title!
I agree with everyone else that you won’t be happy juicing any other fruit with that.
Just wanted to add that I picked up one like that in the OP at a garage sale and found it did not perform nearly as well as my decades old juicer like this one.
I made a hydraulic wine press and tried several other fruits in it as well. It was extremely slow and I had to keep going back and applying more pressure. Using a weight is not practical as it would require several hundred pounds. I planned on setting up some springs that I could crank up with my drill but never got around to it. The small holes required tend to plug up almost instantly. The best juice seems to come out the top of the slurry but nothing I tried I would consider efficient. I know good methods are available I just never got around to researching them.
