One is a Kel-Tec, according to the author, Bob Owens. The other is…
Is this a legitimate centerfire AR-15? Is this a rimfire copy? Is this an airgun, designed to look enough like an AR-15 to win a jihadi his martyrdom?
Frankly, I’m tempted to think that we’re looking at a “faux-15” martyrdom special or a .22 clone, considering we’ve not be able to track down credible reports of the distinctively different reports of a centerfire rifle fire, and the confirmed Glock pistol-fire from the Garland officer.
What I have read, at sites like AR15.com, is that the 2nd attacker was armed with an AK-74 varient. The commenters based their opinions on photos of the rifle’s two magazines laying near it: a black curved plastic looking one, and a dual drum magazine. Evidently, the first magazine does not resemble an AR-15 magazine.
As far as the responding officer, I have read that he was armed with either a Glock in .45ACP, or what is supposedly Garland P.D.'s standard issue of a Glock in .40 S&W. None of this is what I’d call confirmed, by the way.
Neither is what I would prefer to have when facing two men armed with rifles, wearing some form of body armor (as distinct from a load-bearing vest), and the initiative. Fantastic job by the officer.
