Here ya go…
As of this moment, Virginia is shown as pink (slight McCain) on 538. Indiana, Ohio and Florida are all tossups.
Losing any one of those four gives McCain a lot of difficulty to come up with 270, and losing two of them is doom. Since it now appears Colorado and New Mexico really are likely Obama gains, and Iowa undoubtedly is, McCain cannot lose those states.
Electoral-vote.com also claims North Carolina is only barely McCain, and also says Ohio, Indiana, Missouri and Florida are all just barely McCain, and that’s with Obama already winning. Loss of any of those states would be a huge blow to McCain. He needs to win them all, AND take at least one big state or two small ones that are currently leaning Obama.
If McCain can staunch the bleeding this week look for him to campaign HARD in Pennsylvania.
Yeah, VA and CO coming into play might be the death knell for McCain. It’s still about a month out, but those two states NEED to be in the red column for any Republican to win. It almost offsets a PA pickup if McCain would lose VA and CO. But I think a national trend would take all three the same way.
NC? If that goes Obama, McCain can start drinking early. And not just McCain. If the GOP starts to lose CO, NC, and VA in a presidential election, then they will be very hard pressed to come up with a 270 strategy that will work in the future…
Whoa. RealClearPolitics: NC Flips to Blue. It’s narrowly blue, but blue it is. Amazing.
**RCP Average: 09/13 - 09/23 – Obama +0.3 **
According to them, Rasmussen has Obama up by 2.
electoral-vote.com has NC, FL and OH all in a dead heat. But Sarah Palin is coming here next week. I’m sure that will change NC to solid RED
An interesting article in the Greensboro News-Record newspaper today.
I think that the pollsters are going to be surprised by the results in NC. Right now it’s pretty close to a dead heat.
North Carolina is now showing blue on electoral-vote.com .
