I tried to sign on around 3PM EST and got an error message. I forgot exactly what it said. Two minutes I tried again. Same result. Now I got right on.
My home page said there was site maintenance in progress.
I was in the middle of composing a long reply but suddenly was notified that drafts were offline, then 404 Error when I tried to post, then a Discourse message saying no such site as boards.straightdope. Finally got back on.

Duplicate threads (one in ATMB and one in Site Feedback) have been merged.
Discourse just did an update. Since it wasn’t at their usual time in the middle of the night, I’m assuming that it was some sort of security issue that they felt was urgent to fix.
I got unexpectedly logged out.
Had to look up my password and sign back in.
I didn’t notice it being read only. But I didn’t attempt posting.
In 2024, the SDMB only went down once, for about 20 minutes.
