He was huge in the 90s, then he made Lethal Weapon 4 in 1998 which was a big success but disappeared after that.
Has he retired? Has he been blacklisted by Hollywood? Is he ill? Something else?
Just a guess, but I think his “schtick” has worn out its welcome.

It’s worth pointing out that last February 9th, Pesci turned 60. By that age, many Americans quietly retire.
I know what you mean, but I can think of dozens of actors I’d rather see disappear than Pesci…and he always seemed to be quite popular among moviegoers. I thought he was great in Goodfellas and his other work with Scorcese.
I’ve just looked at the grosses for the movies where he was the lead and they’re not too impressive -
8 Heads in a Duffel Bag(1997), Jimmy Hollywood (1994), and The Public Eye (1992) all took less than $4million in the US, so that might be why he’s not starring in movies anymore - but he was always much better as a character actor than a leading man anyway. No dramatic roles in five years though, not even a cameo in a sit-com.
Perhaps he’s doing stuff on stage?
