What happened to Kenny Mayne?

Was he fired or something? I haven’t seen him do SportsCenter for a while. I know he hosted that “2 minute drill” show for ESPN2, but I don’t think that’s on anymore…

I’m pretty sure that he does the 6:00 pm (EST) show.

He is one smug bastard.

It’s that smugness that led me to believe he was fired. Admittedly, I don’t see SportsCenter before 8pm PDT, but I haven’t seen him in that always-changing rotation in some time.

Kenny Mayne is still employed by ESPN as far as I can tell. He has a column on the website, albeit in the “insider” section which you have to pay for. (It’s not worth it for that.)

The anchors on SportsCenter change around as each one has different commitments. He could be taping a whole bunch of “2-Minute Drills”. ESPN did taper off his frequency on SportsCenter however.

No.

Rich Eisen is a smug self-centered bastard.
Stuart Scott is a smug self-centered bastard.

Kenny Maine is not. A number of his colleagues have said that he “has no ego, unlike a number of the other Sportscenter anchors.”

What I want to know is, what happened to Charlie Steiner?

I miss Dan Patrick and Keith Olberman on Sportscenter. And not to mention Craig Kilborn, man I loved sportscenter a lot more back then. I tend to watch The Best Damn Sports Show Period more than I watch Sportscenter

Charlie Steiner is now part of the Yankees’ radio team.

SportsCenter has two main groupings as far as I can tell: Chris McKendry and Trey Wingo; John Anderson and Linda Cohn.

And on the weekends, it’s who ever shows up.
