It’s been a zillion years since I last saw the Sopranos, that I’m a little rusty on the plot.
Whatever happed to Big Pussy?
I remember they thought he was disloyal and was going to have him whacked, but then he disappeared or something.
did I miss an episode? Did they maybe whack him, or is he maybe in the wittness protection program like my Dad thinks? The General is laying odds that he shows up during Uncle Jr.'s Trial.
Or did we both miss a show and he’s dead?
Fed Tony & the gang a cock-n-bull story about being in a health spa in Mexico or somesuch, when in reality he got tagged for IIRC moving drugs and turned to inform for the FBI.
There were a bunch of story arcs (2nd season, IIRC) around this, culminating in Tony figuring it out (visiting his wife when he wasn’t there, rummaging thru his stuff, finding a “wire” in his dresser).
Tony and the gang got him out in the ocean on a yacht, shot him to pieces, and weighted his body with chains.
Tony has been supporting his wife ever since, and something is happening with that in 3rd season but I’m only halfway thru 3rd season. I Netflix the DVDs.
For a long time, I was convinced that that execution scene on the boat was Tony’s dream. Until last season when Paulie said, "I’d kill him again if I could.
Now, what about this most recent episode? What was that all about? No follow-up about Adriana? One minute of Junior’s trial? Comma, comma!
Not quite a spoiler: I teared up on Bobby’s behalf. Poor sod.
Arrgh! I thought this was the most confusing episode I’ve seen. Too much jumping around.
I really thought Adriana would have talked to Carmela after all the things Carmela said in the gym. (Of course, we know how that would have ended…) But I really thought she was going to tell her what happened in last week’s episode.
Did anyone else notice that Michael Imperioli (Christopher) wrote this episode? Has he written others, and I just missed it?
He wrote the episode in season 2 where Christopher has the near death experience after being shot, and sees himself in hell, and last season, the one where Tony and his girlfriend have the romantic encounter at the zoo.
This was definately one of the worst episodes of the Sopranos. Nothing followed up regarding the FBI - Adriana situation? The dildo scene seemed thrown in for shock value alone, while plotlines were ignored.
This ep was basically a big FU to the Italian-American Anti-Defamation League, as far as I can tell.
Heh. Who know Ralphie was a bottom? “Who’sma bitch? Who’sma bitch?” Hee-hee!
(Actually, I’m laughing on the outside, but I’m mentally scarred for life on the inside…)
Y’know, Uncle Junior went ballistic when a lover disclosed he was good at performing cunninglingis (sp?). Imagine the reaction if Ralphie’s bedroom preferences came out…
I wasn’t thrilled with this week’s episode either. I really wanted follow-up to the Adriana situation. Next week’s ep, however, looks like it’s going to be great! Did I see Tony getting punched in the face?
Dewey, what’s buttonhole mean? I heard Tony use that expression last night but I don’t quite know what it means.
Dewey I’m scarred from both that scene and the one where Ralphie is passed out nude on the couch a few eps back. Yikes.
Like you said, this episode was a middle finger to the people screaming about how ‘The Sopranos’ defames Italians. Pretty funny in that sense.
Meanwhile Paulie is edging closer to a date with several bullets, and Ralphie has probabyl pissed Janice off enough to send her to Tony. Bewtween that and Johnny Sack, he’s on borrowed time also. Anyone else wondering what will become of the story lines from last season? Where’s the Russian “interior decorator”? Did Gloria really go away that easy?
To “buttonhole” someone just means to pull them aside and talk to them at some length, usually about some specific matter.
For example, if we’re at a cocktail party, and I approach you and start to talk to you about Amway, and I don’t give you any polite means to get away from the conversation, I am “buttonholing” you – I am monopolizing your attention.
I got that giving Tony et al a free trip to the casino would keep them away from the protest, but I didn’t understand what the casino guy wanted to talk to Tony privately about.
The casino guy wanted Tony to talk to Frankie Valli in order to get him to perform there. Apparently Sil knows Frankie’s manager, though they hadn’t talked in two years. All in all, I found this to be a rather odd request, how would he know that Valli was reachable through the Soprano family?
Also, maybe I’m naive, but what was Ralphie sniffing while Janice was having her way with him?
The return of Donnie Pfaster! That guy’s voice makes my ears want to bleed. I kept wanting him to ask Tony about his hair, and draw him a bath.
I read Adriana’s silence and the lack of a plot around her in this episode as an indication she might be wired. She looked a little shifty and uncomfortable in the wives-working-out scene.
When Carmela hung up on Uncle Junior I cheered. What an asshole he was, all “I’m calling to see if Bobby is still going to drive me tomorrow.” I’ve got tons of Carmela love.
I got a kick out of Furio saying, “Pass the red peppers” or whatever it was the Uncle Junior said in the cunnilingus episode. Other than that, this episode was a waste of time.
