What happened to square frozen waffles?

Fine, fine :). I was referring to pizza made in a square shape solely because it’s easier to roll out several square meters at a time, and not because it’s nearly a casserole.

This reminds me of the famous quote by the waffle Julius Cesar:

“Eggo, ergo, ego.”

Yes, this. It’s follow the leader, plain and simple.

Hey, if I knew the answer this thread wouldn’t exist.

My wife makes wicked good homemade waffles.

She also has a recipe where she thins out mashed potatoes and makes waffles out of that. Great with beef or chicken.

But I work nights and she isn’t about to stay up till midnight to make me fresh breakfast confections. So sometimes frozen it is. I preferred the square ones, even if that’s being picky.

Geometry taught us a square can be inscribed in a circle.

A few seconds with a serrated knife and you’ll have a square waffle.

I ate a square toaster waffle as recently as July 2019 at a motel in Calgary, Alberta. Maybe the circular waffle trend hasn’t reached Canada yet.

If I can make pancakes, anyone can. Easy recipe. The only “trick” is to watch the bubbles. When they start to pop, flip.

I live on a country road. A week ago, when walking the dog past a former neighbor’s house (currently unoccupied) I saw a round toaster waffle on the ground. After a brief sniff, Sunny ignored it and we went on.

Absolutely no idea how it got there. I suppose the (few) cars that pass this way sometimes throw stuff out their windows??

The next day, the waffle was still there. No critter had eaten it.

The next day, after a rainfall, it’s still there. Puffed up and white. Eww.

You got to set the heat to higher than you might think, but not too hot. Bubbles indeed are the key.

So Beck, are you burning them? Or undercooking them? Or making your pancakes too large?

I do note that the cafeteria serves square waffles.

Profit. If they could get away with it, they would put a hole in the middle and call them “Breakfast Waffle Donuts”.

The profit argument assumes that they can sell 6 round waffles for the same price as 6 square waffles, even though the packaging clearly states that the package of round waffles weighs less. However, I have no doubt that this assumption is true.

They still exist in Toyota commercials.

(I’m assuming from context that this family does not make waffles from scratch but uses frozen.)

Hey, hey, that’s not necessary; he didn’t mention that abomination called “Chicago”!
