Waffles vs. Pancakes

Waffles, right?

Unquestionably.

No doubt. Crispy beats floppy every day of the week.

Mmmmmmm…waffles!!

Why is this even a question?

Wrong.

Apparently I am in the minority. Fortunately, that in no way diminishes the fact that I am correct.

That’s what she said.

I freaking love pancakes!

Pancakes are better at absorbing butter and syrup and jam and whatnot. Waffles are too crusty, and seem to cool off much more quickly.

I like that you can get the wholewheat pancake mix, and that pancakes are way easier to make, you don’t have to have a special gadget for them. And…what MtI said.

Waffles

Neither.

I take it we are referring to sweet or Belgian waffles rather than the potato variety?

If so, then Belgian waffles with ice cream for me please. Not so keen on the potato variety. Don’t really like pancakes much either.

Mmmmmm, pancakes.

Potatoes belong in pancakes, not waffles!

Depends on whether they’re real waffles or those goofy Belgian waffles.
Made on my 1960’s waffle iron? Better than pancakes.
Made on the cheap Belgian waffle iron? Pancakes are better.

IOW, I didn’t reply to the poll.

TheKid and her mutant self will only eat Eggos. No homemade waffles or pancakes for her. She also doesn’t use syrup, only peanut butter. Freak.

You are absolutely correct. As Max the Immortal says, waffles are crusty. Ewwww.

Ahh yes, but as the syrup and butter and fruit compote and whipped cream and … (sorry, got carried away there) softens the crust you get a perfect blend of soft & crunchy. And the dents are perfect reservoirs for extra syrup & the other liquid goodness.

Pancakes on the other hand, turn to a mush resembling oatmeal. Yeccch!

Both. Too few choices to vote.

So true. Or maybe the waffles were great because Mom was doing the cooking back then, I don’t know. My sourdough pancakes can even beat Mom’s waffles though.
