What happened to the Daily "Shut Down"? (Not that I really miss it!)

I used to be able to count on the Board shutting down at 1:30am Pacific then coming back again between 2:30 and 3:00am.

This is when I got all my work done! The SDMB would boot me off at 1:30, I’d do a significant bit of the work for which I’m getting paid to be in front of this computer, then I’d be all ready to hop back on the SDMB train at 3:00.

Now I have do rely on my own willpower?!?!?!?

What are you people trying to do to me?

But, really, out of curiosity: Is that daily hour and a half no longer necessary for whatever it used to be used for (Board Maintenance? Drunken Mod Orgy?), or has the “shut down” time been moved to another time of day.

I’m happy to say that after the transition we can at least provide you with one additional benefit. We should not need to take the SDMB offline from 03:30 to 04:30 CST each night to perform backups any longer. That process will occur in a new way that does not require the SDMB to be offline.
